| the_narrator11-24-07, 06:24 PM | Hello everybody, I am hoping to find some guidance with a character I have recently started playing. He is a LN Human Duskblade, and an increadbly devout follower of St. Cuthbert, to the extent that the rest of the party thinks he is a Cleric or Paladin. So far, he has been played as a very strict, businesslike fellow who often quotes scripture and references the "Book of Grudges" that he keeps with him at all times. He believes in fair treatment of equals, pursuing justice, and paying back injustices tenfold. He also hates Orcs and other Greenskins so very much. Any input on a possible background for this guy? I was thinking of something like he was trained as a Templar of the Cudgel or something like that to go and travel the world and spread the word (and head-cracking). I'm thinking he was trained by an order of Fighters and Wizards to do this, rather than a temple. Also, some new stock phrases would be welcome. So far he's used these: "By the Cudgel!" "For the Cudgel!" "The Book of Grudges clearly states <x>" "May you spend eternity under the stearn eye of the Cudgel." |

It is a tradition which dates back several generations and while none have possessed the divine link of the cleric many of his forebearers have served as soldiers of the church. He probably sought out his training as a duskblade seeking a stronger means of service. "It is only just." (for a retributive act) "The scales are balanced once again." (same) "Fair play for fair, Foul for foul." or "You have only changed the rules." (when dealing with foes who use dirty tactics.) "It is an oath then." (seals the deal.) |
