| spyderfreek06-30-06, 05:25 PM | This is the story I have come up with so far: SHe was born into a lessor noble house. Her father is a lord of some kind (Duke or Baron) and has spoiled his child since birth. He sent he to a temple in a far off land for an education and she learned more than he wanted her to. At the temple she befriended a simple man who was trained in the martial arts, she would bring him food and clothing and he would teach her his art. She learned quickly and fast became one of the most learned students at the temple. Her book studies progressed well also and she eventually found herself a favorite among all her teachers. The temple that she was sent to was run by a relative of someone who lived on her fathers lands. Through the course of her education she learned that her father was a ruthless taskmaster. Always taking more than he needed and keeping his people submissive. Never fully believing the stories that were told to her, the woman returned home in disguise to wtch her father from the outside. After seeing only a few days of abuse at the hands of her father, she revealed herself to be the local lords daughter and demanded to be brought before him. Her father was shocked to find that his only daughter had become a beggar in the streets of one of his hamlets. But the daughter saw through the facade and vowed to throw off all worldly possessions and fight against his evil and greedy nature. After a brief struggle with her fathers fat and lazy guards, the daughter fled the keep and has been living off the kindness of others, while trying to put a stop to her father's wicked plans. She knows that she must find others to help her cause and has traveled to this place in search of others who will be sympathetic to the plight of her people. Character: Hu - Female - Monk Feats: VoP & The other feat needed suggestions, comments...thanks |

I understand that she is opposed to her fathers tyranny and cruelty, but will she be able to take her father out if the oppurtunity were to present itself? Could she, would she have the pure force of will to destroy her very own father? Make cerain that her goals are clear and her mind is pure before she takes on an entire royalty of userpers. |

Perhaps his superior does not know that her father is exploitoit his people and would like for her to do something about it. Serve as a spy to gain information, or perhaps that person is just as corrupt and will add even more grief to her life. I'll discuss it with my DM, maybe we can come up with something fun for all involved. Thanks again |

| keropie08-01-06, 08:08 AM | The only issue I see is that it's a big jump for the daughter to just turn on her dad like that. I mean, when I had arguments with my parents, I talked to them about it and such, not started rebellion (my sister, on the other hand...). I might at least add some point to the story where she tried to talk him out of his questionable ways, and was unable to, thus leading her to where she is. |
| Vermillion_Ruse08-01-06, 10:16 AM | The Book of Exhalted Deeds talks alot about gaining experience by saving the wicked from themselves. Maybe she could do as much diplomacy as fighting... a fighting Ghandi? It'd be a mature game, delicately handled. |

Without trying to get people to feel sorry for me, but I know how this monk would feel. My mother & father have both walked away from me because I did the unspeakable thing of marrying someone they did not approve of (crazy people think if someone helps you out of kindness they want something from you). Anyway, I can see how a family can be split be differing opinions. Perhaps her father will see the wicked of his ways and return to the righteous path... perhaps not. |
| Devlonir08-01-06, 04:15 PM | I see how her main goal is to help her father (either help him off his throne and into the dungeon/hell he deserves to be, or help him see the error of his ways). But, i see a problem when that moment arrives. I also had a character once that had one clear goal ahead, to reclaim the lands stolen from his father. But, what if that goal is arrived? What will she do? Will she stop adventuring or decide that there are more evils like her father and strive to right those wrongs as well? Think about this beforehand and why she would do something in the future. Otherwise you might just be forced to stop playing that character simply because her life tells her to. |
