| Drow6407-15-07, 06:29 PM | He's a human wraith. Strangely, he didn't have to take levels of Emnacipated Spawn to become NG again. He's a cleric. (WARNING: Extreme irony up ahead.) He's a cleric of Pelor.:mymy: :mymy: :mymy: I need some help developing his personality. Can you guys help? |
| JellyPooga07-15-07, 09:49 PM | Have you got a little more on his background? If you haven't got anything else other than what you've already said, here's some things you might want to consider... 1)Who and What was he before he became a Wraith? Was he a Cleric? Was he a Commoner/Expert? 2)How did he become a Wraith? Was he slain on an adventure? Or was he just a random target? 3)How did he overcome the inherent evil streak that come with the territory of being a Wraith? Did someone help him achieve this? 4)Why did he turn to Pelor and what made him become a Cleric? Was it because he was a Cleric before? Or was it because a Cleric of Pelor helped him out somehow? Or was it some other reason? If you have answers to the above 4 questions, then you're already on the way to fleshing the character out and may even have some ideas as to what sort of personality he might have. Once you have a more detailed background, then you can start work on what his personality is in earnest (after all, all we are are the accumulation of our experiences...). If you want some ideas on answering those questions or have already answered them and need further advice...just shout. |

He was a random target to the wraith, though. 3) A few rounds after he rose as a wraith, his master(A dread wraith) broke a stalactite in the underground cave. Unfortunately for the dread wraith, it was really a Staff of the Magi in a rock shell. Tarvus realized what he had done, and since he had become an evil thing, he attempted to commit suicide. It didn't work, since he was undead. Some time later, a rescue party from the church of Pelor went down into the cave. What they found was beyond their imaginations: A wraith worshiping an altar dedicated to Pelor. One of the clerics recognized him and brought him back to the surface. Now he's seeking Pelor's blessing of mercy by trying to find a cleric wiling to cast Atonement upon him. 4) He worshiped Pelor before, he worships Pelor now, and he'll worship Pelor in the future. He became a cleric when he was 21, and he worshiped Pelor ever since he knew how to. |
| JellyPooga07-16-07, 10:44 PM | Okey pokey...that's a little more to be working with. Right, first off, I get the impression that he's going to be very strong willed...the influence of being Undead is a strong one, so overcoming it requires mental strength. That means that he is going to either a)extremely devout (as in fanatic devout) or b)very self-assured...could be both, but I personally don't think they mix particularly well. If he's (a), then every waking moment is a struggle to refrain from displeasing his god, he's likely almost driven insane by the constant desire to do what wraiths do (i.e. go around draining the life out of people). He will likely see it as some sort of test, one that he may or may not be failing. He may well pray a lot more than other followers of Pelor to try and keep him on the 'straight and narrow' and those prayers will be truly heartfelt...in addition, anyone trying to interrupt or delay his prayer may well be met with hostility and/or fear that the interruption might cause the prayer not to be heard. He won't do anything that doesn't further his quest for atonement (making this type of character one that is potentially a bad one for a typical game). This character probably doesn't realise the irony of his worship of Pelor in his fanaticism. If he's (b), then it may well be the case that he has come to terms with his state as an Undead and through this acceptance he has achieved dominance over his unnatural urges. This character is almost serene in personality, but there is an underlying strength, a core of belief that maintains the balance between his nature and his desires. This character simply wants to get on with his life, putting his set-backs behind him and furthering his understanding of both himself and his religion. An interesting point of note about this character is that though his outward expression is calm and serene, extreme circumstances may cause him to momentarily lose control (unlike the (a) character who is permanently on the verge of losing control)...whether it be in the heat of combat or a situation where he is under great emotional stress. Either way, it is unlikely that your character approves of the Undead, especially those that create spawn (he doesn't want others to go what he has gone through) and may well go out of his way to eliminate them. He does not need sleep, food or rest and delays due to his companions' needs, may well annoy him (especially if the mission is one involving other Undead), even though he realises the neccesity for them. I see this character as having very little desire for relaxation, despite the fact that he is now technically immortal (bar being destroyed) and has quite literally, all the time in the world...he's extremely driven in his purpose and takes his religion to an extreme (one way or another). ------------------- Hope that's helped. It's just a couple of ideas off the top of my head. If you want some more ideas, just shout. |
| Drow6407-16-07, 11:36 PM | Oh yes, he's VERY strong-willed. And he's both a and b. He simply LOVES Pelor, but isn't driven insane by his worship. And he is on terms with his undead state. He realizes the irony of worshiping Pelor, but he is often shunned from society. Kind of a complex personality. Anyway, thanks for the help! |
| warwinner07-17-07, 02:22 PM | Hmm .... Finding if pelor loves him now as much as he does pelor could be the object of a quest and a motive for him |
| Drow6407-17-07, 03:09 PM | There's another piece I need to add. (WARNING! Extreme shudders.) Before Tarvus was slain, he was engaged. When he was turned into a wraith, his lover still loved him and they were married.(I told you.) Then they had a kid. A half-undead kid.:mymy: Anyway, I'd like some help with the lover's and the kid's personalities. I know it's creepy, but as my half-elf ghosthunter would say, truth is stranger than fiction.(Actually, it IS fiction.) |
| CrimsonDeath07-17-07, 04:02 PM | I'd think that a character in his position would hate undead even more than an average cleric of Pelor, since his hatred of undead would be intensified by a degree of self-loathing turned outward. |

Uh, actually, he hates other undead, but not himself. Oh, and I know what his lover is: A BARGHEST!!! (Just kidding.) She's an Aquatic Drow.:mymy: |
| Lyinginbedmon07-17-07, 06:12 PM | I have to wonder how the fiancee/wife managed to survive conception |
| Fithero07-17-07, 07:24 PM | I have to wonder how the fiancee/wife managed to survive conception Forget how she survived it... how did they even manage it? The dude is incorporeal, he'd just pass right through her!?!? The idea of a half wraith character is interesting though... i think there was an issue of dragon that did an article on half undead. I think the kid should be stuck in a sort or moral limbo, feeling that he is stuck between the light and the dark. Doesnt talk alot, kinda wierds people out how he just stares and has an internal monologue going. What would he eat? Would he just Con-drain people... or go eat some apples? Interesting concept, bravo! Peace |

If he's not, he loses control and Con-drains people. 5) Thanks! |
