| Sthoryn04-12-07, 12:35 AM | So here's the deal, he's an NPC that'll pretty much act as a guide for my players while they get accustomed to the new world I'm/we're making. Male fighter lvl 6 i think Str,Dex,Con = 18 Wis,Int = 10 Cha = 8 He uses a modified twohanded whip and excels in grappling, disarming and tripping. He has an unnerving scar on the right side of his face. He has short brown hair, green eyes. Always wears a leather skull-cap Has a bag of holding with some random stuff. He needs to somehow be tied in with a Noble Lady of some Wealth. Always wears casual clothing (chain shirt underneath, witha cotton shet beneath that.) He's easy going. Just need something else that I'm not quite sure of... Thanks folks. oh and assume that terrible evil exists in the form of monsters, combined with a fantasy medieval European setting. |

If he was a little smarter I'd even say personal agent. If you plan on using him as a form of exposition for teaching characters the world you've set-up you might consider a bard though. A bard can have a huge number of ranks in knowledge skills and tends to be a party buffer more than a straight combatant helping to keep the pcs more important. Either way make sure the players know he will go away once his purpose is served so they don't rely upon him. *side note* lose grapple and a human bard can have both the trip and disarm feats by 6th lvl *end side note* |

You could also do Bard/Fighter or Bard/Ranger. When designing NPCs, it is important to make them not super powerful (as a tripping fighter can be at lower levels), so as to not up-stage the PCs. Delios from 300 comes to mind. A great warrior with the skill to weave words just as artfully as he weaves his sword and spear. |
