Introduction

Sometimes you simply cannot come up with the right name for someone, something or somewhere. What do you do? Well I am turning to the Character Dev boards!

This will not undoubtedly be the last request made, although I will most likely simply keep reusing this thread.

Request 1: Elven Lightning Wizard

This elven wizard learned his art by watching the movement of storms and lightning. He spent many days sitting in the rain observing rain clouds. The lightning’s jagged blasts, the rumble of the thunder and the dance of the wind-blown rain can all be seen when he casts magic. His implement of choice is a small silver orb that can fit into the palm of the hand. He throws it into the air where it floats while he casts his spells. It flashes with lightning and roils with dark swirls like a storm imprisoned. Some even say that he actually imprisoned a storm within the orb in order to harness Lyiae’s nature powers. He is a champion among the elves and any foe will undoubtedly face him and his troops if they challenge the elven faction.

Now for bits of info I feel are important for the game:
1) Lyiae = Goddess of Weather, also patron god of this group of elves.

2) This wizard is part of the Children of the Storm. They are a sailing, coastal dwelling elven tribe.

I chose an orb because it always seemed like a stupid implement. But I thought the idea of a floating, electric ball of storm clouds is pretty interesting!

This is of course just a short, intro description of the villain (Okay he's good but this city has unique cultural battles) if more is needed i will write it up.

What do you know? Here's #2 Crazed Demon-Worshipper
Like most humans amongst the Blood Drinkers, this girl was born a slave. She was owned by a fairly high ranking priest among the faction. The priest took her on a trading mission to meet with several Savuy at the port when the group was attacked by a handful of faction-less soldiers. These soldiers are often either bandits looking for slaves of their own or so called freedom fighters seeking to rescue the tiefling’s slaves.

One young man with long blond hair killed the girl’s owner who had been holding her leash. It was a sad mistake, an honest mistake for any freedom fighter not expecting to meet a demon in the form of a young girl. She leapt upon him and tore his throat out, stole his sword and began to butcher the rest of the fighters. After the battle she looked at the remaining tiefling soldiers and dropped her sword, stating simply that she had been protecting her master.

After that the girl was taken in for the militia and granted her freedom (or as free as a slave can get within this faction). She has proved to be both truly insane, sadistic, masochistic and a brilliant tactician. She leads a small group of tiefling marauders who both defend the Blood Drinker’s district and assault other factions.

Appearance: tall, young, black hair, one red eye, one grey eye. Uses twin swords/twin daggers/single sword/katars? (Waiting for the 4E book before deciding)

Alright, I've been occasionally told I have a gift for nomenclature, so here goes.

For your first request, how does Indariel Kashardien (in-DAHR-ee-ell kuh-SHAR-dee-en) sound?

On the second, Azharei Verdain (AZ-har-ay ver-DANE).

Hope I've helped

Here's a rough sketch that helps establish the NPC and provides yet more random fiction fluff for my games..

Indariel: Thoughts on Implement and Children of the Storm Ruthlessness

Indariel sat on the overlook and stared down at the small group of human pirates packing precious gold, food and weapons into large wooden creates. The raiders had struck one of the smaller ships so had managed to loot the boat with little fight. The mistake was made when the pirate captain decided it would be a brilliant plan to execute the Children on board the boat and light fire to the ship.

That sort of thing just isn’t done around here. No one wants the negative attention of the Children of the Storm. That attention just means that the chosen of a god are now your foes, and with that being the case you’re not apt to live long. Indariel supposed that this captain must be new to the area and thought he could simply continue on as normal.

A small silver orb lay clasped in the elf’s hand and he rolled it around in his palm while waiting. Inside the orb was a swirl of dark, grey clouds that moved to their own internal music. Indariel treasured this object above all others and not just because it was a foci for his magic.

The orb had been a gift when Indariel had revealed his magical talent and casting capabilities. Unlike most other wizards, Indariel had simply looked to Lyaie and nature to teach him the arcane arts. Of course there were plenty of books involved after he had visited far away Rhenquist in order to complete his teaching, but he had been an adequate magician with only the knowledge of storm movement.

His mother, Lindelais, had created the orb earlier in her life. Indariel had never asked how it was made or what it was made of, he simply never thought of it. The miniature storm, as Indariel took to calling it, allowed him to cast his magic with a much stronger force. The Child took pleasure from the cool sphere within his hand. It meant strength and love together.

Unlike other wizards, Indariel did not cast his magics through traditional methods. Often when he began to summon lightning the opponent would stop and stare, confused at what the elf was doing. Indariel had learned from the storms on how to conjure lightning. As such, he danced and coaxed the electricity into being from the air around him.

First he would toss the orb into the air where his mystic energies would keep it floating and spinning. It would crackle with electric energy and let out a small whine like that of a swarm of hornets. Indariel would speak the ancient words of magic and accompany that with an acrobatic move or a languid dance. In the middle of a backflip a blast of lightning would form in the air before him and strike his intended target. His magic was rightly feared by other factions in the city.

Suddenly, it was time. Indariel gave out a screeching seahawk call that was repeated from across the way. He dropped the orb and smiled as it floated up to his shoulder, his magic keeping it afloat. He slid down the overlook and as he rolled to the bottom he came up blasting lightning at the pirates. Elven arrows flew through the air puncturing lungs, eyes and other important organs for something that the pirates had forfeit the moment they raided a Children ship—life.

Indariel did not delight in the massacre, but a lesson must be taught. None would be allowed to survive the massacre, except for one or two. Those would be singled out to go forth and tell the other raiders not to mess with the Children for to do so brings only death and misery.

Girl is still under construction

Speaking of which..More

3) The Dwarven Brothers

Physical: Similiar features, one black haired, one brown haired. One uses widowmaker axe, other uses large, 2 handed sword. Union brother uses sword, has golden armor perhaps a paladin. Underforge brother has silver armor, uses axe, righteous warrior perhaps a paladin of the same god as other brother.

Story: The Brothers were once the greatest warriors the Underforge had to offer on the field of battle. Their combined prowess could equal a dozen men (should be noted that I only expect PC's to take out a hundred soldiers, not these guys ^^). However, about ten years ago a divide occurred between them. The Unification movement to combine many small factions attempted to secure the Underforge to their cause. One brother felt it was a grand idea and went forth to champion it. The other felt that the Union spelled changes that would alter not only the lives of the Underforge but alter them in negative ways. Since that time they have clashed blades against one another since the factions are so near and have many skirmishes.
