I need a Char history!!! [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-14-03, 02:02 AM Hey all! I'm a brand spankin new user here, and I just thought I'd pop in and say Hi!

But I was wondering, does anyone wanna help me make a history for my character.

Nailo Nightbreeze ( i kno, i kno, an elf name), Air genasi Ranger, lvl 1. Preping to become a WindWalker of Shaundakal. True Neutral. Homeland- Silverymoon

Hmm... If anyone wants to know something that I didn't say, then plz feel free to ask! I know some of this may not add up, so please also correct me... I'm sorta new to Forgotten Realms games.

08-15-03, 03:14 PM First off: Welcome to the boards! :)

Second off: Background for a character is really kinda personal, as you're the one that plays the character. Thus if I posted a background, it wouldn't be as detailed or as fitting for the way you roleplay it.

I can however help you with some guidance. Ask yourself the following questions:

- What does the character have with Shaundakul?

- How did she came to be in the place she is, and how did she get involved in the quest?

- Why did she become a ranger?

- Why is her favored enemy her favored enemy (what are her reasons for hating that type of creature so much?)

- How did she grow up, and how did it affect her character/personality?

There's more you can ask yourself, ofcourse, but this is all that comes to mind now. Take inspiration elsewhere if need be, but try to do it yourself, as that really is the most satisfying, and gives the best result when roleplaying your character.

08-15-03, 04:46 PM also, think about their upbringing.
for example, i had a fighter who grew up on the plane of izguard(sp, i know)
due to the violent nature of the plane, she thought very little of killing and was rather reckless, forgetting that on other planes dying is more significant then just an unpleasant wait till morning :)

friends are nice. you don't have to make up everything, just get a general idea :)

myself - i tried to look at my own learning experiences, and try to find what would amount to a fantastical analog for that event... i look at racial considerations, education and socio economics - and then i do the storyline...

hope yours is coming along...
