I am going to be playing a Gnome in the Forgotten Realms setting who is going to be focused on creating constructs. I will be taking feats, skills and Prc's to emphasize and make things such as Golems, Effigys, Gondsmen, etc. I want to brand each of them with an image that represents the characters family name. But I don't know what that family name should be. I am using a black wolf as the image, but Blackwolf sounds way too obvious. I was thinking that this characters grandfather was a famous adventurer who acquired the symbol and surname through his deeds and passed it on to his son and grandson; now my character wants to mark his creations with it as a signature of sorts. Unfortunately, I am not good at coming up with names that don't sound silly.

Well, you could pull a Prince...

Seriously, since gnomes love riddles, why not try a name that only sort of hints at a black wolf. How about Ebonware? Jetware? Something ending in -ware certainly. It ties strongly into your artificer class while forming a right groaner with "ware wolf". :rimshot:

Actually if I'm not all wrong I think Ware is derived from the latin word for "Man".

Not really. The "were" in werewolf is, coming from the Old English "wer", but "ware" comes from the old english "wær", meaning aware, truth, affection, or agreement.

It's a pun. Etymology be damned!
