| Ilikan Holyaxe05-23-07, 04:04 PM | Alright, so here's the deal. I play a level 12 Elan Telepath. He has a backstory, though it's fairly bland. He's been around since level 1, but our group has not done much in the way of roleplay. We recently decided that we were going to give roleplaying a bit more of a try than we had in the past. Some things about his personality that already exist: LN Is terrified of undead (they're brainless, he doesn't like people he can't control) Firmly believes in the nobility-peasant relationship, and the idea of social classes (is a disowned noble's son) Will always seek the solution most beneficial to him and his party-mates. Backstory: He was born into a house of nobility, and was discovered to have aptitude for magic. His parents hired a private wizard tutor(who was only doing it because he managed to get paid outrageous amounts). Eventually, he decided that there had to be a simpler method than magic to manipulate the world beyond your own hands. His tutor told him about rumours of psionics. He left his house, excited at the prospect, and went searching for this mysterious lost art. He spent forty years wandering the world, homeless, until he managed to gain entrance into an Elan culling. He was selected to become an Elan, and once the transformation was complete, he was handed over to another psion for training. The Psion trained him for a few years, and then sent him to another part of the world(to an old buddy), to gain valuable experience in practical training. The old buddy, who was a merchant of some renown in the area, tacked him on to a group of mercenaries he had hired (the party) to find out about raids on his caravans. I need a little bit more zest for this character, as it is, he plays almost exactly like I am, which is not cool. Any ideas are welcome. |

Pehaps he stutters and stammers a bit until he regains his compasure after the party has attacked them. (In game this would be the same as skiping the first round of initiative when undead are involved). If you're just looking for character flavor, try chosing only certain clothes to wear. I once had a halfling fight/rogue who would only wear crushed purple velvet. (we attached some royal giants and their lair was covered in the stuff) The rest of the party picked on me continously, but to this day when ever purple velvet is brought up someone mentions Pierce Thunderbelly. Other character quirks work well, as LN perhaps you have a disdain for all thins chaotic, which you could play by being very aloof to chaotic beings around you. We have a RSoP/Saint in the party who believe that all should be converted to the light, which includes our Drow Rogue. The rogue loves stringing the RSoP along to keep in his good graces. Her answer to are you ready to convert is almost always, soon, but how does Pelor handle this problem, which brings him off topic and back into the situation at hand. I'm playing a Wild Elf Arcane Archer who is getting along better with the drow than the other surface elf in the party. I justify it by pointing out that the rogue has done more for party relations than the wizard (selfish wench), and we have become an excellent scouting/recon team. I was also a male when the adventure began, but find myself now a lady (damn cursed items) and it is interesting playing a switched character. |
| Ilikan Holyaxe05-23-07, 05:22 PM | Thanks for the help, I like the "lose a round when fighting undead" idea. I think that he'll have a self-esteem issue, and whenever anybody doubts his abilities, he feels the need to prove it to himself and them, that they were false. "I can control the minds of mortals" "yeah, right, sure you can" *psion is hurt, and convinces the doubter that it would be a good idea to let the psion tie him up, upsidedown in the middle of town square, naked* |

You take cultural class serious and have been disowned. Chances are you should be avoiding nobility wherever possible as your simply not as good as them. On the other hand you were born noble and that never goes away. You are better than commoners and expect to be treated as such. |
