I managed to aquire a copy of the old legend of zelda cartoon and am trying to figure out the best way to simulate link, zelda and spryte.

link actually seems like a elf swashbuckler, but not sure how to simulate the sword.

any ideas?

I always fancied him as a swordsage myself, especially in the video games. Or maybe he could be super-multiclasses master of doom, like that guy in April '06's Dragon Magazine:P

As for zelda, she would probably just be a Mystic Theurge, she can use healing abilities (I think) and can use some arcane-ish abilities. I would also consider ninja for her (as I recall she was a ninja called 'Shiek' ???).

And who the poo is Spryte???

NOTE: I've never seen the cartoon, this is all based of the video games.

Sprite = Navi

Whatever your Link build is, make sure he has a stupid number of hit points. The guy can fall miles or walk through lava and he'll only lose a couple hearts.

Hmmm, maybe a Petal (MM IV) or just a pixie (that may be too strong though.)

Give him max hit points per level or something. Oh and make sure everyone else in the world that's not meant to die (Zelda, stupid commoners, Ganoon when you're not supposed to fight him yet, etc.) have some sort of ability that makes them invulnerable to all of Link's attacks but not some stupid moblin's.

Link isn't a Spellsword. He has a few magical talents, but nothing that resembles the Spellsword's abilities. The Master Sword itself is the one with the power, it would have it's own abilities.

I always imagined Link along the lines of: Fighter/Ranger/Theif-Acrobat/Wildplains Outrider - Not in that order. But it depends on the generation of Link you wish to make. Cartoon Link is an acrobatic Fighter, Wind Waker/Minish Cap Link is more of a Rogue or Bard (Lots of sneaking, high UMD, musical talents), while Ocarina of Time Link is mostly Ranger/Wildplains Outrider and/or Paladin of Freedom.

Would that make the Master Sword a Legacy Item?

I think't'd be, depending on wich 'link' you're trying to emulate.

Yeah. Sometimes the sword just has all the power. Other times it has to be charged or obtains new powers (Zelda I/Minish Cap)

My friend designed a character based on "Red Link" from....

They have a ******* link in the game already. Tome of Battle, page 109, the Eternal Blade.
Just look at the picture and at the class abilities/requirements, etc..
He is wearing the classical shield and sword. He is an elf. He has green armor. He has a damnit fairy floating besides him! Oh, sorry, I meant, bladeguide. But it is a small ball of light. And would you not agree that Diamond Mind and Iron Heart are two disciplines link would pick if he were a ToB-character?

I see what you're talking about, but I fail to see this 'blade guide' in the picture, no shiny little ball for him...

Legacy Champion with a stupidly powerful legacy artifact as the Master Sword and vow of poverty since he can only hold 300-1000 rupees depending on wallet upgrades. The Master Sword upgrading is just doing a ritual to unlock its next tier of legacy powers.

The character picture hardly represents Link. The character is wearing plate, looks menacing, has black hair, quite possibly an Elf (Which Link is not), looks nothing like Link. A more fitting representation is the Spellsword from Tome and Blood from 3.0. The character has a sword firing magic, is wearing a tunic, does not have black hair, and has a bow.

However, the class you have chosen seems to fit. Perhaps with some racial adjustment.

Like I said: perhaps with some racial adjustment because I don't really beleive that Link is an Elf or even Half-Elf despite the pointy ears. Although the Wood Elf does seem to fit.

I once made a Link character. I made him a paladin, and he had a holy avenger, the Master Sword. It was pretty cool, but I didn't ever get to play him. :weep:

Yeah nooo kidding. Link has ever so slightly switched and changed "Classes" again and again in every game. In fact very few Zelda games use the same "Link."

When people are reffering to him now a days they probably mean the Orcarina of Time or Twlight Prince Link... who are two different people as OoT happen X-hunderd years before Twlight.

Hell. Each and every Link is more then likely a completely different class with every version of him. Take OoT/Majors Mask Link for example (who is the same Link) They are vastly different! (Enteral Blade to a ... Changling Master of Masks & Chameleon... Warshaper?)

Better question is "How would I go about making Link in Twlight Prince or OoT Link" one being the newest and one being the most popular, because it's more then likely it's one of the two your reffering to.

What I'd like to know is what Four-Sword link would be... or the Wind Waker...

I always thought they were small, maybe halflings. Maybe it's because they're in a cartoon, as for classes, I'm not sure. I've always thoguht of Link (especially in that game [wind waker, never played the four swords]) as either a Rogue or (may sound silly) Artificer, because he uses magical items alot, anmother thought thhat crossed my mind was Factotum (dungeonscape), although I don't own that book.
Again, a ToB class may fit (not sure though, I think that's more appropriate for Twilight Princess Link).
Another thing, I always thought he was a Ranger at first, or maybe just a Core Fighter, but that's when I just h ad the Core books.
He could, possibly, be a Legacy Champion (Master Sword), I'll have to take a look at my old games (for other games, not Wind Waker).
I might try to stat out some 'Links' later, maybe even some weapons he used... if I get overly bored... might even try the Minish Cap...
EDIT: Paladin actually might fit for some versions of Link, I've been thinking, but probably a Ranger(or other)/Paladin mix of some sort... he has that pony of his (Epona?) and some Paladiny abilities...

The sword is never a Holy Avenger. Never.

It's a +X evil bane longsword with use-activated Spell Turning. It may have other properties. Ghost Touch maybe, but it's never a Holy Avenger. Holy Avengers are not Artifacts. The master sword is. It deserves it's own entry.

Light arrows from LoZ:WW are evil bane shock arrows

Outside of core:
The Picto Box can be emulated by attaching a spyglass to a Memory Crystal from Dragon #327 page 67-68.

For LoZ:OoT and LoZ:MM, bomb-chus are Effigy Rats with a Fireball or Delayed Blast Fireball contingent spell. Effigies and Craft Contingent Spell can both be found in Complete Arcane.

Link is easily a half-elf. Why? Because he grows up much faster than the other elves in Ocarina of Time but still has pointy ears.

I would say class-wise a hexblade. Hear me out....

aside from the non-good alignment it works. D10 hit points, so he can survive mad falls as was earlier mentioned. He can cast a small number of spells. He has a familiar flying around and bothering him all the damn time.

Why not a duskblade? He wears light armor and carries a sword and shield. He casts a small number of spells, largely combat-oriented. He can channel magic into his sword strikes. And it's a traditionally Elven class.

You know, an artifact could be a holy avenger. While it's true that a holy avenger is not an artifact, one particular holy avenger could be.

That's quite possible. I never thought of that.

he is refering to the link based on the Zelda 1 or Zelda 3, COMICBOOKS, who essentially are a desperate humour attempt made by pathetic americans and later sailor moon watching japanese.. (These comics were only released in gaming magazines) sorry, Cartoon series... essentially they were the same, here for a sample.

Somewhat argueable. If you're referring to Link's aging compared to the Kokiri children, then the reason why he ages faster is because they don't age, as is stated by the Great Deku Tree. They're like Peter Pan. The Kokiri remain youthful forever.

As for the Hylians, when Link ages 7 years (turning into an adult) everyone else in the world ages 7 years. Of course graphcs were limited at the time so age is hard to show, but if you look at Malon and Zelda they both become older.

You could say that they are Elves. However, Hylians age like humans essentially (Shown in both LoZ:OoT and LoZ:ALttP, people die/disappear). They live very simple lives away from magic and strange oddities, unlike Elves. They're not graceful, smart, well-lived. They act more like humans just with bigger ears. Even Link doesn't act like an Elf. He's always getting knocked on his arse, but he gets back up. He also puts himself through constant physical exertion suggesting high Constitution. He also lacks general smarts and isn't really aware of alot of things until it's happened.

The closest representation to Elves at all in LoZ:OoT is the Gerudo (Desert Thieves) that are found to the west accross the broken bridge. They are nimble acrobatic fighters.

I agree that Half-Elf is probably the best representation for Link. It's just that I'm against the way it's called. It makes it sound like he's decended from two seperate races. Probably a DM issue who can merely change it to Hylian.
