I was reincarnated as a troglodyte... [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-09-04, 08:02 PM Ok... some bad stuff has happened to my character before... but really!

Little background....

My character is an arcane engineer who joined up with the group i am with after some demons attacked and killed his family. (bad times one) My character was doing very well with the group until he was horribly mauled to death by three displacer beast pack lords. (bad times two). He was revived via true reserection by the goddess Ana who only asked of him that he use a rod of wonder at least once a day in her honor- or else he would slowly die *cough cough. (odd yet fun times) During one of the uses of the RoW my character was turned perminantly blue. (bad times three) Now my character just died via 9 poison laced shirkens in the back. (bad times four) And because we have a druid in the party who just loves that reincarnation spell, I was brought back... as a troglodyte. (bad times five) Even though I was reincarnated, my DM ruled that I am still blue... (god i hate him)

So my question is this... WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW!?

I am disgusting and gross... I smell... but i have wicked darkvision and was upped a couple levels all at once. Anything I should know about playing a troglodyte? Is it good? Is it bad? My party seems to think it is a bad thing and i dont know what to think.

Since most troglodytes are chaotic evil, my party seems to think i might ruin their reputation. Plus being as I am chaotic neutral (with mischievious tendencies) I might fit the build a little too much for my own good. At least I wasnt reincarnated as a woman.. although that could be fun to role-play...

Anyway, being "reincarnated" as a troglodyte calls for some interesting roleplay. Among other things, you have one decision to make.

Is your character's soul and spirit exactly the same, with the same personality and memories he had before dying, in a body of a troglodyte, especially created for the occasion?

Or was your character's soul kharmically joined the one of a nearby troglodyte, who actually lived a few years oblivious he was your reincarnation. That would mean you were reincarnated retroactively, a couple years before your death, but after all, who can say that kind of magic have to bother about lineary time issues?

If you choose the complicated but how more interesting one, it means you are part troglodyte in your soul. You could have some CE tendencies, relationships with other troglodytes, and hazy memories at best about your previous life...

You are not smelly, humans, elves and other stinky hairy, sweat stained, flea infested mammals do, not the great troglodyte you are, you may even one day even become more like your relatives the dragons (blue dragon). Sure in human society you need to cover up with robes and illusions and call yourself bill the tanner, but you get by.

Your stench also causes birds to fall from the sky (-D4Str), food from the heavens, crunchy and tasty. (good times 2)

Those pesky deamons cannot find you anymore with their nightmares and other spells, and think you are dead, but youll show them now. ( advantage )

You can see in the dark, which all higher races can, and only the lesser races think this is neat, but you can humor them.

Since the god of the druids in her infinite wisdom chose this form for you, perhaps there is a reason, as yet unrevealed for your new form, if the party, especially the druid seems to think your form is poor then perhaps they question not you but the wisdom of the gods themselves. ( baffle them with quasi-religious stuff )

I am thinking of trying to go for the alignment chaotic good, as opposed to chaotic neutral with some evil tendencies. (my party already told me that if i go full chaotic evil they'll kill me... they'll kill me dead)

But it is hard when the damn druid who reincarnated me has a belt buckle of protection from chaos and evil so whenever he touches me with it (after he takes it off first) i get shocked by it because i am chaotic. It really gets annoying and i just want to punch him.

I have already sonic lanced one of the other party members because he and one of the other members stopped two message carriers (in a time of war where they are protected by the rules of war) and one of the guys they tried to stop was thrown from his horse and died and the other one they stole his message from. They wouldnt stop even when I told them about the rules of war and so i sonic lanced one and he wouldnt stop... and they think i am the evil one...

One thing that might be fun... is because I get a bonus feat from being transformed into a troglodyte is seeing if i can save it for later (for when i can change my alignment to chaotic good) and take sacred vow from exalted deeds and start on the exalted path, just to screw with them. Than I can dress up like a priest or something and proclaim the glory of Ana.

Just some thoughts.
