I'm currently creating my own campaign world and i'd like some basic characters (like Tordek and Lidda out of the PHB) to represent each of the eight core races. Heres the classe's i'm allowing...

Artist (basicly a Bard, but has more options than just music)
Barbarian
Cleric
Druid
Fighter
Healer (MinHB)
Hexblade (CW)
Martial Artist (like monks, but without the crazy powers and limit to lawful alignment)
Psion (PsiHB)
Ranger (same but far less magical and more martial)
Rogue
Shaman (OA)
Sorceror
Swashbuckler (CW)
Warmage (MinHB)
Wizard

And the races...

Kabus: Gothic anime dwarf-sized humanoids with fangs and claws
Kined: Oriental halfling-sized humanoids with black eyes
Pshed: Large troll-like humanoids with lots of tentacles
Reechi: Hunched feral hairless-dog humanoids with 6 spider-like eyes
Aphie: Snakeskinned humanoids with tails and vertical mouths
Raganjhi: Very tall and lanky dark-skinned humanoids with wide grins and long limbs
Neku: Sexually-dimorphic fey humanoids with vaguely moth/butterfly like features
Damagan: Silver-skinned rare humanoids with unusual facial crest's and fanged mouths 'The Godless'

I'm thinking of abolishing the favored class system. Of course some races are not as common in certain classe's, like a Pshed Wizard. I'd give you a link with more information on each race but my computer is being a :censored:, so I can't. Anyway heres some bare ideas. I'll go more into character and personality when I have figured out the class race combos for sure. Remember that each each has its own unique way of naming their kin. For example the Aphie & Pshed don't have last names, Neku have a number declaring what number child they were, Raganjhi name themselves when they reach adulthood and the poor Damagan (unknown origins, cursed with no soul & outnumbered 1 to 1000 of the other races) have either a name they pick or one given by their adoptive culture.

Nesanna Willowind: LN Female Kabus Warmage (one of the Tristian Arcane Marshal's)
Kito Kitsuna: NG Female Kined Martial Artist (student at a Saki monastery)
Solphiel: LG Female Aphie Cleric (priestess of the Aphie goddess Saphina)
Bodiku the 3rd: N Female Neku Wizard (disciple of Kao, one of the Neku gods)
Gorzhan: CG Male Pshed Barbarian (traveling barbarian hero)
Yiguup Welkaart: N Male Reechi Ranger (Orag spirit slaying hunter)
Sky Strider: CN Male Raganjhi Artist (agile dancer and anarchic loremaster)
Vorpal: CG Male Damagan Fighter (nicknamed infamous Damagan vigilante)

What do you need exactly? More Iconic suggestions, or backgrounds for those ones?

Kudos to you for attempting to create an entire new campaign setting, but your original post is barely enought info to go on. IF you want really good Iconic character that truly represent something, then you have to have us drowning in information.

Also, what do you want these characters to repesent? For the most part, the d20 Iconic characters represnt a archetype of personality matched with a race and class. Soveliss is the archetype for a Chaotic Good, Elven Ranger. Tordek, a Lawful Good Dwarven Fighter. The Iconic character represent an a-typical character that is most likely to be a of a certain class, race, and alignment. Basically, Iconic characters are your own walking cliche's.

(Personally I use the Iconic characters as a road map for what NOT to do with my character. I never play as an Elven Wizard or a Dwarven Fighter. I'd much rather play a Dwarven Rogue or an Elven Barbarian.)

Also, I looked at your setting. It could be better to create iconic character if each of your races had their racial traits defined, or at least the flavour of each race. For example, if I don't know what an half-orc is, I could end creating a Lawful Good half-orc sorcerer, or a gnome paladin: not unheard off, but not very typical. Even if the traits are over or underpowered, it would help to figure out what is the race.
