In a campaign that my dm is still setting up, I have decided to play a character that, in my eyes, is quite interesting. I want him to be a Psychic Warrior/Dervish/Weapon Master.

When I first thought of him he was just going to be aq psychic warrior, but after some research my DM decided that he was going to be a bit too powerful in the beggining of the campaign. Not wanting to take my character away, he placed a "Jinxed Choker" on him, one that is inherited by the eldest son/daughter when the father dies. It reduces the number of power points available to use by half, and every 5 years of the characters life it drains away 1 point of constitution.

When that happened I decided that the whole psionics stuff would be used mainly for support, things like healing and bonuses to AC and stuff. I then decided that like that, he would be really weak at the beggining of the game, so I looked through the Complete Warrior and found the Dervish, and thats when I felt like he should be kind of an oriental character, using the whole Chinese fighting style with the curved Broad Sword. Slashing and kicking ones opponent while dancing around them. I felt that he would also need to be uniquely specialized with that style of weapon since I couldnt find it outlined anywhere. (the closest I could get was either the scimitar or falchion in the PHB) Thats when I remembered I had looked through the oriental adventures and found the Weapon Master in there; a potent weapon specialist.

So with that in mind, the full idea of the character is this:
A master swordsman weilding a Chinese Curved Broadsword in a technique that emphasizes dancing and weaving around ones enemies. Also uses limited psionic abilities to support him in times of need.

What is the opinion of the masses on such a character? Any ideas for progression or anything else? Any thing that should be changed/compromised? I want to keep it as close to the original idea as possible, but since I'm still somewhat new to DnD (2nd level DnD player) I dont really know how such a character would work out, and therefore I welcome suggestions for the character.

Is this a 3.0 or a 3.5 game? Psionics has undergone some major revisions in the transition and any DM worth their salt should know better then to consider a psychic character overpowered in v3.5.

The quickest way would be a Psychic Warrior 5/Dervish 10/Weapon Master 5

Any race'll do.

Unfortunately Psychic Warriors get screwed in their skill points and the Dervish requires two cross-class skills(Perform and Tumble). Your power-points a day aren't going to be great(2nd level, 7+ wisdom, 5 known). Even so I think it's doable and the story sounds neat enough.

Go for it, it'll be a tight fit but it should be fun.

It's 3.5. I'm the DM of said game. heh.

The classes are fine, what you need to do is work more on backstory. The Jinxed Choker is a good story hook, and with the recent events happening, you should have plenty to do besides just hack stuff down. And I need more than "He's helping them with their problems when we start."

And I don't really think that statis stuff really fits the character concept. -_-

Edit - and no, I don't think the Psychic warrior is overpowered. But I'm not a fan of psionics, so I've put limmits on it. His is a great character concept, in my oppinion.

The campaign is 3.5

hmm I guess I am still too new at this. the quickest way I found to achieve my goal was 7 levels in PW and then 5 levels in Dervish before I could take the first level in Weapon Master. But then some of the feats I took were psionic, and some of the skills I've invested points in have been psionic skills. I did take the Open Minded feat, without it my character would be 8th level PW before ataining the first level of Dervish.
