Hey all, the current game that I’m involved in isn’t going well, beyond the three week break that we’re taking for St. Patrick’s Day, Norwest Con and Sakura Con; there are signs that the campaign is going to die due to player revolt. So for the next game that we’re inevitably going to start up, it’s most likely going to be in the ‘Realms’. I’m thinking for a character concept a human, not sure if male or female yet, who was raised in a small village with a ‘priest’ who claimed to be a cleric, however he was not favored by any god, and consequently no gods showed favor on his village.

My character became disillusioned with the gods by this priest, and feels that all priests are really just criminals bullying the commoners into donating to their respective churches, so my character performs a ‘Robin Hood’ type service, breaking into temples taking the offerings and returning them to the people of what ever village, town, city etc.

With as prevalent as the gods are in the Realms, these actions are going to be noticed by the gods, this is where I see the fun Role Playing coming in. The problem that I’m having is figuring out what class to make this character. I’m thinking the character will be male, I might make the character female with the background that ‘she’ stole something from a temple and was made female as a punishment from the god of that temple.

In Complete Divine there is a prestige class called Temple Raider or something similar. Excellent for someone who wants to steal from a church. Rogue is probably the best leading up to it.

Problem is that its Temple Raider of Olidimarra... a god.

I'd probably go rogue or rogue/bard. Good stealth and bard gets some decent spells at lower levels.

Hmm didn't know that. I don't know the class very well, but you could possibly reflavor it to fit a non-theistic character.

How about Ur-Priest? You're character has decided to fight fire with fire. I do agree, rogue/bard would probably work.

I'm not too sure that I'll take a PrC with this character. The initial classes that I was thinking about were, either Rouge, Ninja, or Bard, but I'm not really sure Bard would fit the concept. Ninja would be a bit of a stretch as well. I was also toying with the idea of doing a Rouge/Swashbuckler, see how that played out.
