| Erevis Cale06-14-07, 04:18 PM | Hi to all on the board, I'm looking to flesh out some characters I'll be using in an upcoming campaign. They are not fully built yet, but they are fighter/roguish identical twins who are trained to fight especially well as a team. The campaign will be running in the forgotten realms, and these NPCs will serve as a good challenge for my play group as the personal bodyguards of the primary antagonist. I have not settled on a race for these 2 yet, but I am open for suggestions (so long as it's not too exotic). What I DO know so far is that the pair is quite psychotic, yet still very sly and intelligent, and their behavior is extremely similar (to the point where they can finish each other's sentences). I'm just stuck as to what would be an appropriate background for this pair in the Realms. I do know that I would like to push the creepiness factor up a notch for these NPCs, so any ideas or comments would be much appreciated. I look forward to your suggestions; thanks in advance! |

That's just something to knaw on a bit until I get home and check my books and what not try for a decent background for two psychotic dwarves. |
| CrimsonDeath06-14-07, 06:20 PM | a feat called Thunder Twins I'm sorry, but after reading that, there's only one phrase going through my head... "Thunder Twin powers, activate!" |
| DX205206-14-07, 07:26 PM | Give them all the rings of elemental command (2 each) if you want to refrence old TV shows... anyways don't forget to make them the opposite gender of the BBEG, otherwise it would be just plain wired. Oh and why not try to seduce the men (or women if the BBEG is a woman) in the party? |
| Fithero06-15-07, 09:24 AM | Thunder twins is cool, but why not make them dark dwarves to throw a spin on it. Make them both Knights (the unltimate body guards) and then have them go into the Vengence Knight prc (from Champions of Ruin) Makes it a little interesting, breaks a few stereotypes :P Peace |
| Ensjak06-15-07, 07:51 PM | Make them drop dead gorgeous female elf bards. They can fascinate the entire party with their singing and then give suggestions to make the party fight amongst themselves for the elf maidens' honor. And fascinate music would make for awesome bodyguards. Easy escape plan every time. Think about. BBEG and elf bards meet party. BBEG and party exchange menacing dialogue. About to come to blows but then the elves start singing. BAM party fascinated. BBEG beats a hasty retreat...one elf casts invisibility on both of them. By the time the fascination wears off the elves are gone and the PCs are standing alone completely mystified as to what just happened. |
| CrimsonWyvern06-16-07, 04:32 PM | If I broke any rules with this post, I apologize. I have a suggestion. A friend of mine has a collection of Dragon Magazine useful things, and among them is the race of "twins." The race's name is Dvati. The language of Dvati is so complex that it takes two people working together to actually speak it. Dvati are pretty much two bodies, one soul kind of beings. They care a lot about philosophy and art, and have white (literally) skin, black hair, and blue eyes without irises. They're short a finger from humans, and they have Darkvision 60. Spellcasting takes sychronism, and they split their HP roll, but both get to add full Constitution. If one dies, they other one slowly dies by itself, (1d4 Con and Wis damage each day, -1 cumulative penalty to rolls, checks, and saves.) Personal spells affect both, and touch spells cast by either can affect the other over near-infinite distance. Flanking and aid another work better between the Dvati. There is one Level Adjustment, and Bard is favored. Telepathy between the twins across the planes. Only one save for mind-affecting attacks. It's transfered between the two. They can either get a +1 to AC or attacks for 1 round against an opponent they flank if it fails Will save equal to a perform check. The Dvati seem excellent for you purpose, and add a couple Hat of Disguises, and you can seriously mess up PC's. Having them appear to switch positions at will, (with different colored clothing with the Hats perhaps) and you'll be able to seriously mess up the PC's. Most people aren't prepared for things they haven't ever heard of in D&D, and Dvati fit that bill perfectly. |
| xanthor06-17-07, 06:24 PM | In September I am Dm a game that circles around something similar to the Dragon rage in the Year Of The Rogue Dragons, but taking place in my persoanl world. I have two players who are planing on playing Identical Twins. They were both raised as orphen by a old hero named Falcon (a former PC from a previous game. We have been using this world that I built for nearly 4 years now) and went their own ways when they got older. One stayed with the mentor and became a ranger. The other went and trained with Falcon's former party-mate, a Caterman (a feline race i built 4 years ago) Pirate dual weilder, who trained him then handed him off to a close friend of hers (yet another Former PC) and learned how to be swave. So one is playing the Dirty Ranger while the other plays a a light weapon dual-weilding Daring Outlaw (Swashbuckler/Rogue with the Daring Outlaw feat). I know this most likely doesn't help, but I hope you find it interesting. |
