In a currect campaign, I'm running a True Neutral High Elf Druid who as an infant was orphaned when his parents were both killed by an evil sorcerer/cleric. I was taken in by a clan of wolves, one of whom I took as a familliar when I began my travels. The dog is 27 years old (he was a pup when I was orphaned) and knows a bit about my family history, but not enough to be of much use. (For the sake of flavor, we can communicate telepathically, we still use the trick system and whatnot)

I spoke with my DM and he allowed me to incorporate my backstory into the campaign. The evil Sorcerer/Cleric we're hunting is presumably the same one that killed my parents. Unfortunately, we came to a major plot point in the campaign when my mother's old familliar visited from another plane. My character didn't know who the wolf was, but I did out of character.

Now I have a major problem. I need to find some way to slowly feed my backstory to everyone in the party, but since both my character and his familliar are rather ignorant, I don't know how to go about doing this. Any suggestions?

First off... am I reading this right? This elf is only in his 30's??? That doesn't seem right man....

If the character doesn't know his history, then he can't bleed it in. He has to wait for the killer to come and reveil most of it to him before he can give it away. Sit down with the characters and tell them what the character does know and start with that. Nothing better than ghost stories around a camp fire!!!

I like the story..it's cool. I guess you can say that you've lived with wolves for a long time (several generations of wolves have come to know you..) Other than that... my only thing is... If I knew an evil sorceror killed my character's parents... My desire for revenge would be really strong! I wouldn't be neutral. I'd be either evil or good on the extreme. But that's just the way I'd role play that story. Of course you could do whatever...just a suggestion. I don't think you could be druid if you aren't neutral though.

I think druids get animal companions (technically not a familiar).

Shouldn't wolf companions be from the Material Plane... I dunno what plane your mom's familiar is from... but I don't even know the creature that companion is..nm.

As for how you should be introduced in the party..that's the easier thing to come up with. Who doesn't need a druid when venturing through large forests?

Yeah, he is, that's just how things fell into place.

My character doesn't know that the sorcerer we're huhnting killed his parents, he's travelling to protect his endangered home.

Again, another flavorful story tweak. After my mother was murdered, she and her wolf travelled to the elemental plane of air and resided there.

Well, thanks for the help, I think I'm going to talk with my DM about being visited by the air wolf again and have him clear a few things up for the character before the story gets bled in.
