| TheDudeamis10-14-04, 10:39 AM | Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! Acually I wanted to make my new character a bit of a demon hunter/inquisitor type. You know the kinda guy who believes evil should be baptised in flame. He also has to fill out the roll of tank as well. What I'm looking for is core-book only suggestions on domains, classes, PrCs and the like. Also I'm thinking of asking my DM if I can use Servent of Radiant Light so consider this for your flames... er ideas. |
| Daniel _the_Zodiac10-14-04, 06:34 PM | Mmm, Classes: Paladin Cleric (with War domain) Fighter, maybe Ranger PrC: Sarcred Exorcist Holy Inquisitor There's plenty in the Defenders of the Faith (or I guess Complete Warrior or Divine) and maybe the Retriever (I think it's what it's called) from Masters of the Wild. That's all I can think of right now. |
| Trydan10-15-04, 01:18 PM | Hmm... I'd go with Cleric, over Paladin or Fighter. Taking an appropriate domain (War sounds good), combined with the right spells can make for an agressive destroyer of evil. Ah, and for an inquisitor, make sure you put plenty of skill points into Intimidate/Interrogate/Gather Information/etc. |
| Strife10-17-04, 08:16 AM | For flavor I would go with ranger with favord enemy evil outsider (agreed not the best tank) and try to cut a del with the DM to gain cleric spell list instead of ranger standard (just the spells mind you, not the spell progression). But then again, what I imagine might not be the same as you, my vision would probably be a more sneaky ranger/rouge intent on fretting out cabalists and thier ilk and thus not so tankish... but if fighting ability is more important than skills, then go ahed with a cleric, perhaps good and war domains? |
| Murr-Quan Lord #210-17-04, 01:16 PM | Law and War, not Good and War. In order to fit the stereotype of a menacing church inquisitor, one must focus more on the Lawful component than the Good component. That is, if that's what he's going for. *sweatdrop* |
| Strife10-17-04, 03:22 PM | You're right silly me. I was just thinking of protection from evil and such, not a Spanish Inquisitor, good would probably be wrong. as for PrC perhaps the Divine Champion from Forgotten Realms, nothing over the top, but hey one more alternative :king: |
| fatal error10-17-04, 04:39 PM | Well three prestige classes come to mind right away: Church Inquisitor (CD), Sacred Exorcist (CD/DotF), and Knight of the Chalice (CW). |
| TheDudeamis10-21-04, 01:55 PM | Thanks for the help folks, now that I have Complete Warrior and Book of Exalted Deeds here is my idea. Now I have to have some healing ability as I am the only person who'll be able to cast Cure spells and since the other warrior class (we have a fighter and ranger), is going ranged combat I'll have to act as a tank too, so here's my thoughts (we are starting at lvl 3) STR 14/DEX 12/CON 14/INT 12/WIS 16/CHA 18 Ran 1, Nemisis (Evil, Outsider), Sacred Oath (+2 Diplomacy) Clr 1, War (Warhammer)/Herald Domains Pal 1, The Feat where I sacrafice a turn to add my cha bonus to my shield (don't have my book on hand) I'm going to start the game with double cash as per the DM so I'm thinking of starting with +1 Full Plate, +1 Heavy Shield a ride, a wand of cure light and a Masterwork Warhammer Ok from there I'll go up 2 lvls of Pally, then go cleric for 2 lvls, then I should be able to multi to Justicar which I'll do until lvl 10 and go Knight of the Chalice from there. sound good? |
| Rathis Darkwielder10-21-04, 04:33 PM | With that progression, you'll face a stiff xp penalty from lvl 4 onward. If you're going purely for a 'cool' character instead of min-maxed, I'd really take some lvls in church inquisitor. |
| TheDudeamis10-21-04, 05:52 PM | What book is Church Inquisitor in? |
| Rathis Darkwielder10-22-04, 11:25 AM | it's in complete divine |
| TheDudeamis10-22-04, 12:09 PM | woot, thanks. I'll grab Divine tonight and put my build on sometime this weekend, then its background time... |
