| Malcaor03-24-08, 04:33 PM | I'm making a character for an all evil campaign. Current build is Thri-kreen Swashbuckler3/Fighter2/Pyrokineticist1 (ECL 10). I'm trying to figure out how to play this character. He's CE, and obessed with fire. He's definetly insane. His full attack routine is 12 attacks at a low attack bonus using his flame lashes, which fits since he is reckless and brutal (no arguing about rules for the flame lashes in this thread please). He isn't wearing any clothing, and is covered in sut (sp?). His only items are Belt of Orge Strength, Gloves of Dexterity and a Headband of Intellect. I'm pretty much open on ideas for this guy. |

Since my two base classes are within 1 level of each other and Pyro is a PrC so it doesn't apply to mulitclassing penalties, I avoid any xp penalties. Plus if I went ranger I wouldn't be as completely broken =) |

The next question on how to play him involves whether he favors fire as an end unto itself of for the power of flame. As an End Unto Itself character simply light fires whenever and wherever possible. Don't be stupid about it though. Fire is a powerful force and there is no controlling it once truly unleashed. You are constantly testing that fact. You don't light a fire in town because you don't know you can stop it. Instead you light campfires and leave intentional trails, fuel sources, etc. which it could follow out of its firepit, potentially escaping into the surrounding woods if allowed to go unchecked. When you are in a location where fire is a less than viable option become sullen. You're eager to move on and away. You feel trapped and may suffer from secondary madnesses such as clautraphobia. On the other hand is Fire as Power. Here we find a stupid pyro. He belives that his flames will overcome any obstacle. He looks for any excuse to fight and draw out those lashing fires. He is the master who has tamed the most dangerous beast. And since he has such a powerful weapon he must use it. In this version you are uncontrolled. There is a good chance the rest of the party will wind up tying you up and throwing you in a sack anytime they need to be even passingly diplomatic. You're the type who has burned down 3 of their headquarters already and is only kept around for as long as you are a useful weapon. Be prepared to accept it if, when they finally establish a long term HQ it has a fireproof cell. |
