| FlimFlam01-28-06, 11:10 AM | In a few weeks, we'll probably be starting anew again. We play in a homebrew campaign, heavily using Greyhawk setting stuff (such as their deities). But on occassion, the DM will allow us to borrow things (spells, feats, prcs) from alternate campaing settings, like FR, DL, and Ebberon. So here is my current idea I am running with... I just picked up Magic of Incarnum. So I was thinking of playing a Warforged Incarnate. I was going to say that the Incarnum "brought him to live"... Think Johnny 5 from Short Circut or heck, even Frosty the Snowman :) Anyway... The cool part is, when he does his soulmeld thing in the morning, I can explain it like parts of his body are reforming to create the soulmelds (similiar to Transformers). So if I do Incarnate Weapon, perhaps parts of my forearm move about and form a sword. If I use a soulmeld to give myself improved armor class, perhaps reinforced plates will pop out of my chest. Basically, I've made a robot-esque character. Not sure how I will play him though. I am thinking like Data from Star Trek (no emotions). Always follows protcol (I'll be a Lawful Incarnate). But I also want that curiousity aspect, always wants to know more about the world. Of course, since I am not that common of a creature (Warforged are not at all common in the current world), moving around the world might be tough. So most of the time I may have to pass as a shield guardian or something for my allies. I am going to work out with the DM my introduction. Maybe have one of the other characters stumble upon me (I'll be inactive). He bumps into me, and activates me. Or something like that. I was thinking of having my memory erased, and trying to find out where I came from, who my creator was, as a plot hook. Perhaps I am from an alien world? From the future? An advanced civilization from the past? An experiement? Maybe just a super golem? What was my purpose, why was I created? To serve? To protect? To destroy? Also, I will play up my proficiencies, feats, skills and abilities as if I am just discovering them for the first time. Grabbing a sword and swinging it for the first time, and it feels "natural" to me, as if I've been doing it for years. Maybe maxing out Jump and making a good jump check and saying something like, "I did not know I could do that." That kind of stuff. I can't wait to offer suggestions to the group during roleplay opportunities. I am going to bust out with this line... "I beleive if we reroute the power going to the shields, we should be able to... wait... what was I saying?" Hehe, just a little homage to Star Trek :) Possibilities are endless... As for as design, I am not sure if I want to pick up Mithral or Admantine Body. I would certainly like the improved AC and DR, but the 20 foot move would suck. I am not familiar with all of the soulmelds yet, but if there is one that can give me a good DR, then I'll skip Admantine Body. If there is one that will increase my speed, then I'll pick it up. I am willing to take the feat which will allow me to pick a soulmeld from Soulborn or Totemist, so if anyone has any suggestions, feel free... Just though I would share my new idea. |

Do they have an arcane spell failure like wizard or sorcerers? If yes, your warforged shouldn't "wear" any armor at all. That reminds me a Star Trek episode where the crew find Data's head in some kind of cavern. After some analysis, the head appear to have been there for 4-5 centuries... |

That reminds me a Star Trek episode where the crew find Data's head in some kind of cavern. After some analysis, the head appear to have been there for 4-5 centuries... I've seen that one. Troi, LaForge, Riker, Crusher, and Picard end up going through a temporal rift in the cave and discover that aliens are stealing the life essence from people in 19th Century San Fransisco. Anyway, it's a two-parter. Here are the links to the synopses at the Star Trek website for those interested: Time's Arrow, Part 1 (http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TNG/episode/68558.html) and Time's Arrow, Part 2 (http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/TNG/episode/68560.html). Anyway, Flimflam, you're character concept seems very interesting. I personally have not played an Incarnum user, but some people in my gaming group have and they love the system. I hope that you have fun playing your new character. -Baerdog7 |
