| J.Augustus Rose II06-25-05, 09:52 PM | I was watching a Justice League Unlimited episode tonight that featured The Question (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Question) and I started working up a character that suffers from extreme paranoia and subscribes to absurd conspiracy theories. The only problem is that I'm not exactly sure what a D&D type conspiracy theory would be and I'm looking for ideas and suggestions. Maybe things like the high-level heroes are actually in league with the chromatic dragons as a means to increase the hero's power while removing the other evil competition or something. That's not a very good one but you get the idea. Any thoughts? Have paranoid fun with this one, folks. |

| aleshandre06-26-05, 03:58 PM | Magic is a conspiracy. The powerful political forces of the world use magic and religion to bring fear and supress the free people. There are no gods and no magic. All of the effects that magic users create are illusions and hallucinations brought on by cleverly crafted poisons from plants and animals that use such toxic fluids to protect themselves. The physical "magic" effects are cleverly concealed devices that shoot fire and other things crafted by those gnomes, who are in league with the political forces in the world. |

| Otogi06-28-05, 07:25 PM | The powers of Psionics and Magic are imense, almost everyone of the powers of Psionics and Magic who are famed are dark, selfesh and cruel, so how may you trust your party's Arcane-spellcasters or Psi-based characters? The muscle is always strong, almost to strong, perhaps he can put a sword down the Spellcasters throughs or chop of the heads of the Psi-based characters, they may even cut of the hands of the Scout or other Muscle. Mabey that theif can poison the party and take the money. Gods are always sacred and nature is also, but how can you tell the ones who are of it are sacred? Can it be possible that the god that the Cleric is even the one he realy is worshiping? Or that the Druid is realy nuetral? Can he be an Ex-Druid, mabey thats why he has no companion! |

An extremely advanced Great Red Wyrm secretly controls all things...all churches, all governments, major organizations, town criers, everything dealing with "official" business as well as the gathering and distribution of information is under control of this dragon who wants to slowly establish himself as the ultimate domininion, but hasn't hencefar due to fears that he himself will be destroyed by adventurers (despite the fact 90% work for him). |
| J.Augustus Rose II06-30-05, 10:59 PM | Otogi: That's a good one too. I'll have to wait and see if the other new character in the group turns out to be a spell-caster. Hopefully he will because I could have some fun with this. obrysii: That idea works great with the homebrew setting we play in. The Chromatic Dragons rule over most of the world and the idea that there's an even badder villain behind them all works great. Plus a paranoiac being paranoid about another paranoiac is too funny. |
