Hello and welcome, may I start off by saying that any and all help would be greatly appreciated and please no yelling at me.

I am in need of advise on what abilitys, race, classes etc would be good for making a jack skellington kind of character?

For instance are there any undead playable races( I have alot of books, just havent red them)

Closest I can think of would be make him some sort of Lich (using my limited knowledge of the undead). Perhaps a Rogue for a basic starting class?

Makes me wonder if one could create a large enough Hive Mind to make Oogie Boogie. ^_^

Lichs are technically playable, but they're all at least level 11 spellcasters, and the template imposes a +4 level adjustment. Plus, I just don't get the Lich vibe from the Pumpkin King. Although, Bard wouldn't be a bad entry (flavor-wise) if you want to play a Lich.

I agree that a rogue is probably a good choice. You'll probably want ranks in Hide, Move Silently, Jump, Tumble, Intimidate, and Perform (Sing, Dance, or both). You don't necessarily need to max out all of them, but Hide and Move Silently are good to keep maxed out.

If you don't want to be a Lich, there are a couple of other decent undead choices in Libris Mortis (if that book is available). A Chaotic Neutral or Chaotic Good Wight might not be a bad choice. Like the Lich, the Wight has a +4 LA. It also has four racial hit dice. However, Rogue is listed as a preferred class.

Necropolitan is another option from Libris Mortis. They have no racial HD and no level adjustment-- both good if you want a powerful character. They also have no feeding requirements and lack a specific stereotypical mindset. The Ritual of Crucimigration (the ritual that creates a Necropolitan) costs 3000gp, but since that's the expected wealth of a level 3 character, and the process drains a level plus 1000XP (enough to knock a level 3 character down to level 1), the DM may allow you to play a Necropolitan from level 1 with standard starting wealth, having reached level 3 and spent most of your life savings on the Crucimigration before the game started. (I know I would allow it.)

Keep in mind that being undead is inconvenient if you're not evil. You'll have difficulty finding Inflict potions (except as treasure from an undead enemy), and few clerics will be able to heal you if they weren't already planning to do so.

As a step up from necropolitan, there's always the bone creature template from libris mortis...

or a dracolich. A dracolich could work:P .

The strange thing about Jack is that he isn't exactly a normal undead. He is the personification of a holiday, an idea given form which make him, in many respects, more like an outsider or a fey. As for class, Jack is either a rogue or a bard.

If you go necropolitan, perhaps you could give him the creature of legend template (even it its not allowed in the rules) to show that he is a unique being.

That or just slap on a few evolved undead templates to boost him up a bit.

Id go with bard too, possible into dirge singer (not devo/emo music though, more black/sarcastic comedy or something :P)

Sounds like an interesting character!

Peace

Basically, if their around for long enough, undead get a chance to sort of, 'upgrade' and get all sorts of nice bonuses :P

You could make him an Awakened Skeleton who's been converted to an Outsider as the Pumpkin King.

I think Jack might do well as a monk, actually-just give him the feat Ignore Alignment. I think Jack is chaotic good, really; despite his vaguely creepy appearance, he's quite naive.

I don't know about the race, but rogue/sorceror seems like a good combination to me. As the master of Halloween, he must have some sort of magical capabilities.
