| FeceMan09-11-06, 05:03 PM | ...and I'm having trouble thinking of what he'll be. That's right, I'm starting him from scratch, 100%. A completely random character (with the stipulation of "please not a primary caster"). So I figured I'd go to the CO--err, CDev boards for help. His stats are: STR: 14 DEX: 16 CON: 14 INT: 16 WIS: 10 CHA: 8 [I did shift a stat point or two around to make them even numbers.] I honestly have no idea what the character should be. I want him to be something fun, kind of not serious (since I've heard...bad things...about the GM, and I don't want to miss not playing the character if he gets killed). I was considering a gnome ranger, but he has crap for WIS, so maybe not. Anyway, I came here for help. Help me create a hilaracter. [See? That was just so awesome. "Hilarious character" became "hilaracter". Man, I'm both ingenius AND awesome. :D ] |
| dvlsadvct09-11-06, 05:06 PM | If those are fixed stats I would suggest Rogue as a base. Perhaps a halfling. We all know how silly halflings are. |

| Alakar09-11-06, 05:22 PM | A kender psion? I think that would be kind of funny. |
| Hydryh09-11-06, 11:48 PM | If you want amusing-yet-functional, I'd say either a Rogue of some type or perhaps a Fighter specializing in ranged combat, with an unusual race added on; such as G'nork the Half-Orc Pickpocket ("Did he just...? Nah, Half-Orcs aren't subtle enough for that...") or Stumbleduck, Gnome Sniper ("Death from below!"). If you don't mind being a combat liability, try a Paladin or Bard. Getting chased by a mob or booed off stage can be good times, through the magic of memory. |
| Phelot_Plaguecrafter09-12-06, 05:29 PM | I think Egoist would be great. You Int is good, your Dex is good, and both your Str and Con are acceptable. Your stats are pretty much in perfect line for you to be a Egoist. Racially, I would instantly say Dromite. Dromite Egoist just slaps me in the face as something that could be absolutely hilarious. So, there you go. Food for thought. |
| JulesCARV09-12-06, 10:18 PM | Rogue is my first instinct too, but as an alternative, have you considered playing a duskblade? Maybe you could play a duskblade who's in his mid-20s and doesn't really think of himself as a duskblade, but rather a sort of dabbler who can't decide whether to be a wizard or a fighter. Y'know... "I just need some time to explore my career options before a make up my mind and get stuck in a class I'm not really happy with. I mean, lots of guys don't know what they're going to be when they're 24 these days. Maybe a wizard... or a fighter. Or maybe I should be a rogue. I dabble a lot. My mom says I should get career counseling." |
| Crash16909-22-06, 12:52 AM | Make a Rogue kleptophiliac. Steal everything, and make it obvious. Don't put skills in slight of hand or anything. You just have the urge to grab things, you don't want to steal them, you just do. Sometimes it will go un-noticed, sometimes it wont. It would be really fun. There will be encounters all the time. Due to your strange condition your character has experience slinking away from these encounters. Make sure you're really athletic, so you can escape the scene of the crime. |
| Reversefigure409-22-06, 08:42 PM | You don't need to make a rogue out of that. Those stats are fine for any non Wis or Cha based classes. Make a smart barbarian. Speak in big sentences. Rather than raging with "Krug smash!", rage with "Very well then. Now you've provoked me to the point where I must give in to my primitive anger, and lay this axe into your head with enough force to split it clean atwain!" Don't roar and shout at people to Intimidate them, just politely explain that if you apply pressure at the correct point, you can actually bend them until they can insert their head into their ******. Spend the skill points in either: 1) the standard Barbarian physical skills, and explain to everyone the science of what you are doing. You don't swim well because you are strong, you swim well because you've mastered the butterfly stroke, as perfected by Sir James Butterfly the 3rd, the famous swimmer. 2) Cross-class into the Knowledge and INT based skills (and literacy, obvious - you should have more than enough skill points for this). Speak Language is also a good one, just to see how the party reacts when you have a conversation about history in Aquan with the water elemental, or when you are the one with enough points in Spellcraft to identify the spell the enemy is casting. 3) If you don't want to cross class the skills, Craft, Craft, Craft! Whittle. Make stone sculptures. Paint. Write dramatic plays. Whatever. And of course, you've still got good enough stats to flip out and beat things with an axe. Don't feel constrained to play a rogue just because of high Dex and Int. |
| BobTigerClaw09-23-06, 06:08 PM | swap intelligence and wisdom, then make a dwarf monk... to eventualy become a DRUNKEN MASTER :pint: |
| Comus09-23-06, 10:46 PM | Clearly, you need to be an Elven Ninja. Keep your identity totally secret, even from the party. If possible, don't even let them know you're even there. Follow them, but keep out of sight. Even if they see you, escape and help from the shadows. Trust me. It'll be great fun. |

Defenitely the most original character idea I've ever seen. Totally not cliche. Totally. Not. Really. |

A kleptomaniac steals things without even thinking about it or knowing about it, whilst a kleptophiiliac will just steal all the time because they love it. |
| tiejaz09-24-06, 01:57 AM | ADDON: You can go ninja or monk without changing INT or WIS with Kung Fu Genius. I'm playing a character like that... Dark Whisper Gnome Ninja Assassin. Chaotic Evil. :D |
| SunTzuWarmaster09-27-06, 08:02 AM | with high Int and Dex, I would consider it a loss to go into a non-rogue class. I recommend the Skill-heavy (halfing or elf) Rogue (or Ninja) with a few of the following feats: Weapon Finesse, Quick Draw, Weapon Focus(dagger or kukri), TWF, Flick of the Wrist(draw weapon(or 2)+sneak attack in the same round, requires 19Dex though), if you take kukri, Improved Crit is a must. level 6 or so 2 Sneak Attacks for (d4+3d6dmg) is something hard to ignore for me. |
| Steelwind09-28-06, 05:58 AM | You know its funny, myself being a CO board faithful who was just perusing around, to come to the CD boards and see you guys giving some optimization advice. I am not poking fun or nor saying you are doing a bad job, it just gave me a chuckle. As for charecter advice I would go something like Swashbuckler3/Fighter2/Dervish10/Tempest5 dual weilding scimitars. If you would like further advice like a full build with feats and all, I would be happy to help. |
