DF_Whisper 02-15-05, 09:28 PM	Okay, Im a Ranger/Cleric and i've decided to go into the Kensai prestige class. But in order for me to do that I need to make an oath... Ill give exact quote from book later. Im a lawful good Ranger 3, Cleric 3. I didnt take the class as a Cleric. I recieved my powers from the goddess, whom i spoke to directy, Freya. She's not in the phb, but shes in our mod compagin. But anyways, other than that im a player that believes in justice and equality for all. Im an Elf, Black hair, Green/blue eyes ask my parents lol. Picture in my sig is me, click on link if curious. So i need help writing an oath. I was thinking about making it to Freya for giving me these powers. So what im asking for is a sort of head start on the oathe, i need ideas. Book's quote on the Oath: A kensai's oath of service must be sworn in front of witnesses and must be upheld for the kensai to continue advancing in levels. Typical oaths include swearing service to a powerful lord of the kensai's alighnment, to an organization with the same alignment and goals of the kensai, to the kensai's deity, or even to an ideal or principle of the kensai upholds. THESE OATHS CANNONT BE TRIVIAL, AND PROSPECTIVE KENSAI WHO ATTEMPT TO ENTER THE PRESTIGE CLASS WITH BROAD OATSH OR ONES DELIBERATELY EASY TO FULFILL FIND THEMSELVES SPURNED AND CANNOT JOIN THE CLASS AT ALL, EVEN IF THEY MEET THE OTHER REQUIREMENTS!!!! not caps in book, but VERY IMPORTANT. other than that. The campagin situation is almost over, however we are saving a Village from monsters lurking around, and there is a wizard that we didnt kill exactly he will be ressurected and is on a never ending search to kill me, and me alone. So please give me some ideas, and some lead on this idea, i really want to do this class, but im not very good at being specific about my ideals.... Please help asap, i need this by this thursday, feb.17, 05.
TheMightyMcClaw 02-16-05, 09:26 PM	Oaths that deal with other characters are always good. While the archetypal one would probably be "I must slay suchandsuch evil jerk," I had an interesting idea. For whatever reason, you must protect the villain of the campaign from harm. Especially interesting since he would want YOU dead. It could be a situation like Romeo and Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet (he hates you, you just want to be chums) or it could be an enigmatic vision from your goddess. Not that they don't stop him, simply that they don't threaten his life. It would create an interesting dynamic.
