| Lord of the Ninth11-15-03, 02:59 PM | I'm also working on a contract killer character (NPC), he's LE and focuses more on the lawful aspect. So I'm thinking I need a sort of "Killer's code of Conduct". Killers Code of Conduct 1. Never get caught. 2. Never kill in anger. 3. Never let you employer know who you are. 4. Never let the mark know you exist. 5. Always get at least half the payment in advance. I'm thinking these should kinda like the rules the guy in "The Transporter" has. But I want to have around 10-20. The npc is a rogue modron (no one ever suspects the metal box of being a criminal mastermind), with levels in assassin and and int score of 24. |
| Faeryl Zauvirr11-16-03, 05:18 AM | Here are some more for you Lord of the Ninth: 6. Never betray a fellow assassin 7. Never fall in love 8. Only use 'x or y' as a weapon 9. Never prolonge a death. Missions must be completed as soon as possible. 10. Guild interests rule above your own |
| Lord of the Ninth11-16-03, 12:23 PM | 6 works, 7 works for everyone but my character (he's a modron, no gender and almost no emotion), 8 works (although I need both an x and a y). 9 is good, but I don't think 10 fits because he isn't with a guild. However all of these are great for universal assassin's code of conduct. Thank you for your reply. |
| Zeroflowne11-17-03, 09:47 AM | 11. A dead assassin is worthless. Retreat if you must. 12. Cover identities should be dropped once they've accomplished their purpose. 13. Pride gets you killed. Do NOT show off your kill or intimidate your mark. 14. Capture is worse than death. Dead men tell no secrets. |
| TheBlackBart11-17-03, 01:13 PM | you could have a kind of people you would be forbidden to kill, like children or other modrons... also, what happens when you break your code of conduct, intentionally or not? |
| Ivarrius11-17-03, 09:13 PM | 15. Never kill for pleasure. A great Idea would be, since you are lawful, to find a way each time you take a job (anonymously, of course, since NOBODY should know who you are) to turn in or expose the person who paid for or arrange the assassination. That way, you get paid, (money up front, or atleast part of it) and you make sure the lawmen can keep the peace. A difficult way of doing it, but would make a nice turn on the assassin idea. |
| Lord of the Ninth11-17-03, 09:51 PM | That is a good idea, I could also twist the law to my own uses (I am LE). So I could frame someone for murder or being an Anarchist. |
| TheBlackBart11-18-03, 12:15 AM | The problem is, if you always betray your employer, you'll never get new ones. Worse, those employer who escape death sentences might seek revenge... Finally, I think it is morally suspect to help someone to commit a crime and then get that personed punished for it, while you suffer no disadvantage... You could be on a crusade against murderer (and other criminals) who escaped the law, wether for good reason or not. You become part bounty hunter (stalk and slay criminals on the run) part vigilante (you punish those criminals who are above the law). |
| Leap11-18-03, 06:16 AM | Think "James Bond"; tie yourself into the preservation of the social order. |
| Lord of the Ninth11-18-03, 06:21 PM | So I might only accept hits on chaotic people (and considering the number of people who hate Anarachist, Sinkers and Xaositects this shouldn't be too hard). Black Bart, ah, but that's the beauty of the plan. No one knows who I am, so they don't know who betrayed them. They might not even know they were betrayed by the assassin that just hired them. Heck, I might even do free lance work for the Harmonium (kind of an oxy-moron there), and help them find "anarchists", who happen to be my former employers. |
| TheBlackBart11-18-03, 08:05 PM | I wouldn't know for sure, because I never been in that sort of business, but to be an assassin for hire... some people must know who you are, or noone can hire you... An assassin usually would have people who would serve as a contact between you and potential employers. In underground society, these people are known and respected. Their reputation is very important. If it is rumored that the contracts made through contactX makes you die not long later, contactX don't get anymore contracts. ContactX get rid of that "misfortunate" assassin... And doing without contacts altgether isn't advisable either... First you'd have to find people wishing to sponsor someone's death. These people rarely advertise. If asked, they would probably deny, unless they find someone they deem trustworthy -read: someone with references. It may be a problem then if all your former employers are dead. The only one who would hire you are people without much experience in that kind of business, and people with not enough money to deal with safer people. In both case, you business wouldn't be a succesful one. But hey! This is fantasy, and if that's what you want to play, do it! |
| Xixt41211-18-03, 09:47 PM | Always complete any given job within x time Never break any laws except x, y, and z Never break a contract Never leave any signs of the assassination except for the body Never leave a job incompleted, and never take a new job unless the old one is completed Always kill victims by x means Never betray a current employer unless he fails to meet his end of the bargain, only kill a past employer if you are bound by a contract to do so Harm only those required to be killed by the contract (this would mean that he would have to leave bodyguards untouched unless they were included in the contract) Profits from a job must be the exact value from the correct sources, extra pay and rewards not covered in the contract are not to be taken, and if the employer fails to pay the promise amount, he is to be killed and the exact amount of money removed from his person |
| Xychotic11-18-03, 09:57 PM | 25. Always give the mark a chance for escape. (A la, Tleilexu.) |
| Ivarrius11-18-03, 11:03 PM | The plan is.. you never let people know who you are. You never have to be the same assassin twice to get a job, nor do you have to have a specific name or title, other than you are good at listening and finding out who needs what done. you give them what they need, a face ( not yours) a name ( not yours) and a time or place to pick up your pay ( you wont let them know you are there). Its easy enough to do this. |
