I'm trying to flesh out a Killoren Druid chatacter's personality and background.

The campaign takes place in a custom campaign setting. Basically the arcane spellcasters of the world thought themselves so powerful that they overthrew the gods. They set out to eliminate all divine casters. The "world" essentially exists in floating cities, with the surface world being left a desolate wasteland, with a few minor shelters of divine casters and more savage cultures.

Now, besides from the obvious of my character hating the spellcasters for throwing off the natural balance of things, and disliking man for his defiance of gravity, what other things should I do? I really need help on the background, I have pretty much no ideas for it, just for the character itself. And any other tips on characterization would be much appreciated.

Not really what you're looking for but, Complete Mage has an alternate 1st level ranger with favored enemy: arcanist that would fit your campaign nicely.

On topic; Kiloren are "nature's answer to the rising power of man", take this to the extreme: make sure you have a good charisma score and use the Aspect of the destroyer often. Attack anyone you think is an arcanist on sight, better to kill innocents than let the guilty survive.

Your druid has basically had to live most of his life up until now in a bunker (Not necessarily a literal one). His parents could have been killed in an arcane caster attack, or other members of his family or community could have met the same fate. He's adventuring either with the hope of ending the arcane persecution of his people (by force or otherwise,) or just with the goal in mind of escaping from the eventual fate of being hunted down by wizards.

He thinks plants are sacred. Literally. Picking a flower is the equivalent of murder, and so he would never perpetrate such a thing. Similarly, he holds any woodland animals in high regard. Since his own land is a waste, any living thing he can still find anywhere is precious to him, and he'll do anything to preserve it/them.

Maybe whenever he's not adventuring or traveling, he spends his time planting trees and shrubs.

Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, anyone? Quip said, this does sound really fun, and your druid would probably be seeking to right the wrongs of man in nature's eyes. Probably the restoration of the surface world, and returning the cities to it are long-term goals, while saving his own skin and defeating the arcanists that pursue him are more short-term goals. He would probably act very dark and reserved, speaking in riddles and prophecies, while trying not to reveal that he is, in fact, a divine caster. Lines like, "Nature cries out in pain. I must seek to sooth its wounds," and, "These cities and all their inhabitants have defied the laws of nature, and will be dealt with in turn," would be popular for him, while oaths of bringing nature's vengeance on the arcanists that have so glaringly broken nature's laws would be his battle cries. Seriously, this campaign sounds awesome. Can I join?

Fatalis_902: That depends, you live in south-west PA? :D

To all: Thanks a lot. I've gotten some really good ideas for him. I like a lot of the things you guys said, and will make sure to use them.

SW PA? Sorry, that's a little too south and west for me. By a few hundred miles. Thanks anyway though.:D But seriously, has your DM been playing Baiten Kaitos recently? Like, a lot? Because this sounds very Baiten Katos-esque. Like I said, still sounds fun.

No he hasn't. He rarely plays video games, and only has a PS2 with FFX and some other random game.
