| Cankerskull10-05-05, 01:47 PM | I'm about to start playing a 1st level Lawful Evil Samurai in an evil Forgotten Realms campaign. The campaign is based on a group of criminals-for-hire of which my character will be a part of. I had originally planned on eventually becoming a Ronin. My original back story was that my mother and lord were secretly in love with each other, but they could not marry because she was beneath him. So she had to marry my father instead. My father knew that this marriage was a sham. When I came along, he wasn't sure if I was his son, or the lord's, so he turned a cold-shoulder to me. He taught me the ways of the samurai, but never showed me any love or affection. My mother resented the fact that she had to marry someone she didn't love, so she pretty much ignored me all my life. I thought this would be a good explanation for his LE alignment, essentially being a heartless killing machine. Once I came of age, the lord wanted to get rid of me, so he sent me to the west to become part of this criminal group under the pretense of gaining 'worldly' experience. I would eventually break from my lord, and I turn Ronin. Then I saw the Dragon Samurai prestige class from the Miniatures Handbook, and would really like to go that route instead of Ronin. So I could use the same basic story, except that instead of a lord, my mother was just in love with another Dragon Samurai in my dragon clan. That way I wouldn't be bound to him, but to the clan itself. Everything else would be the same (ie, never shown love or affection by my parents). So my problem is, why would my dragon clan (green dragon) send me to the west to become part of a group of criminals-for-hire? |
