We just started a home-brewed campaign. It has elements of "A song of ice and fire" but its 95% original. In this world Halflings humans and dwarves are the "Empire" races. They are the wealthiest, most powerful, most arrogant, and most hated. Elves and orcs are the barbarious tribes who hate the empirical races. There are also human barbarians and to the south is a vast wasteland filled with abombinations who attack the Humans, Dwarves and Halflings. The only thing that holds them off is a huge wall that spreads from coast to coast. This wall is 500 feet high at the shortest and at some points it can be 800 feet high. Thats the "song of ice and fire" part.

Ok after the brief backround heres my character's (underdeveloped) story. He was born in the southern area, near the wall. His parents were warriors who fought on the wall and were therefore "strongheart" halflings. Strongheart are the warrior caste, and stand 4'6"-4'10". They named their child Camorin Lightouch.

Camorin's parents were killed on the wall when he was 18. Angry, he asked to join the guards so he could fight these abombinations. Because he was so young, they denied him. Looking for a place to let out his anger and fight evil, he joined the church of Rendroc, the god of war. He thought they would make him a warrior-priest in the army. He was further upset when they instead decided to send him free-lancing over the human-dwarf-halfling nation (known as the Iron Kingdoms). Spreading blessings and helping those in need so people will support the church of rendroc. They also insult him by giving him a stunted normal sized bastard sword, because of his youth and stature, rather than the large bastard swords that are his god's favored weapon.

Camorin has high wisdom, low intelligence, good charisma, very high strength, low dex and okay con. Hes 4'10", level 3, wears full plate and using monkey grip wields a large bastard sword (I haven't decided how he found the bastard sword). His domains are strength and war.

He follows a soldier's code despite the fact that he has never been a soldier. He leans toward good because he heavily upholds society, and good tends to do that better. He uses heal spells, not harm, and he destroys undead, he does not control it. Despite all this he isn't really "good". Hes fairly racist towards anything but dwarves and his fellow halflings. He settles many of his squabbles with non-lethal deuls, which he believes are the only true way to prove honsty and innocence (Rendroc knows who is right and will have them win). Hes not TOO much of a zealot about his racism or his religion, but hes not laid-back either.

So what I need is:
-Where did he get his sword?
-What would his code be?
-Is lawful neutral the best alignment for him?
-Should I multiclass anything?
Any random ideas on what to add to his backstory are appreciated.

How does a halfing use a large bastard sword? Im not sure if im missing some rule here or something, but off the top of my head it seems like it wouldnt work.

Maybe multi class as a fighter to increase your fighthing skills (since he wanted to be a guard in the first place)

As for where he found the sword, maybe he found it on a corpse of a barbarian or something (it is an odd weapon after all)

Monkey grip is a feat that allows you to weild a weapon 1 size larger. He has to two-hand it but he can hold the beautiful little 2d8 sword. Also, its not a rare weapon in this campaign, as it is the favored weapon of the god of war.

It's a good character concept. I like the idea of a warrior-priest.

In terms of multiclassing, you could either take a few levels of fighter to improve your combat talent or take the Warpriest prestige class presented in Complete Divine. This would allow him to simultaneously balance combat with divine spellcasting without getting into some crazy multiclass combo.
