Your maximum ranks in cross-class skills are half your maximum ranks for regular skills. For example: Bob the Generic-Example-1st-level-Human Fighter wants to learn Decipher Script, a skill that isn't on his class list. When he levels to become Bob the Generic-Example-2nd-level-Human Fighter, he has 3 skill points (2 for being a fighter, one for being a human,) and he puts all 3 skill points into Decipher Script, for 1.5 ranks. The maximum he can have at 2nd level is 2.5 ranks, which is half of 5, the maximum ranks he can have at 2nd level. Hope that clears it up. |

It will allow him to make any one cross class skill a permanent class skill (regardless of what else he takes). It has no prerequisites, and is the easiest way to accomplish this. Other options, such as Human Paragon, can also do this, but that requires you to be human and sacrifices class levels. |
