He left the underdark because his family auctioned him off and the winner had had her prior two 'mates' castrated when she finally got bored.. So he stole the money from the auction and took off to the surface. Using a lot of it to bribe his way out. At the exit to the surface is a town called "The Gate" in this world (And this is a HIGHLY mount oriented world btw) and he met the other PC there, a LG Human Monk girl. They traveled together for a good while. (To 7th level worth of XP) Now he had a huge thing for her, and had been working toward winning a competition of her people that is a riding combat competition so that he could ask her father to marry her. She's a princess btw.. of a mercenary group with a strict honor code. So anyhow.. Time goes on, they get 5th level. They realize a war is about to erupt.. He goes on downtime to train to become a ranger. (2nd level Ranger, 5th level Wizard now) During the downtime, he's training with an epic level ranger/druid combo and a Nymph girl who he doesn't really talk to cause he likes the LG character. (She's a 25 cha nymph, btw.. so he had a lot of uh.. self-caused will saves.. I actually rolled a DC 20 will save every day of the downtime.. To see if he could resist flirting back) So anyhow.. During the 2 weeks, the LG Monk gets polymorphed to a pony with a few others to pose as the replacement mounts for the people causing the war. They're taking back to another plane with the guys and it's revealed that they aren't actually ponies at all.. The LG monk got branded, btw.. when in horse polymorph. A big brand on her ass saying she belongs to that general. So anyways, to be allowed to leave the plane she agreed to marry a VERY high level LE outsider guy from there (I am unsure if he's epic or not) She comes back and tells the Drow of this after his LONG ass training by himself while she did that. He's an odd sort, and is rather protective of her. (He's a bit delusional, he insists she's 'his' woman. And always has.) So she tells him that she is to be wed in 180 days to the man. They argue over it. She refuses to break the engagement because it would be going against her word. So he challenges her to a non lethal duel. If he wins, she takes him to the guy. If she wins, he shuts up. Well, he lost.. (He wouldn't cast any offensive spells or fire his bow at her, he just casted things like Web and Laughter.. and she ended up critting on to put him at -2 nonlethal) .. but he's a drow and he of course has NO honor code like hers, and he points that out to her when he comes to. So then he starts hanging out with the Nymph girl and talkin to her since his trainer asked him to escort her to the swamp lands south of where they are since they were goin that way. And he's all mopey and upset and the nymph girl (Who is Evil.. I think chaotic evil) is of course telling him that he's right, and she doesn't appreciate him, and that he should just leave with her. Now.. the question I have is. (Note: Same player plays the Nymph and the Monk) Which would it make sense to go with? If the party DOES split, I'm leaning toward him siding with the Nymph over the Monk. Simply because the Monk forces her strict honor code on him. (She's attacked him non lethal damage for killing people who surrendered.. he thinks of that as cruel) That, and the Nymph (25 cha) is very friendly with him and supports him.. while the human (18 cha) is kinda mean at the moment.. (A group of bandits.. 30 of'em.. jumped out and yelled for tariff.. then the Monk told them "Run" when they noticed that they were facing a Nymph/Drow riding on a hippogriff together with their bows, a monk with two kamas on a breed of horses KNOWN as deadly in the world, and an outsider LE(Her to be husband) riding (I forgot what.. he's a huge guy though.. looks like a damn house).. Well, they ran.. but they got hit by a fireball as they did that killed 1/3rd of the group) When the fireball hit.. The monk started griping at him, he said "See? She's so mean to me!" and the Nymph told him "I know.. She doesn't appreciate it. It was wonderful" Now.. I really think he'd lean FAR more toward becoming the nymphs puppet. But I want an outside opinion. (As for why the Player has 2 characters.. They introduced the nymph cause my char had been unable to play for 2 weeks, we'd just been playin the other campaign while they did downtime in a special session they set up for that solo adventure.. so they didn't know if it'd end in time or not and didn't want to push back my playing my drow another week because it's my favorite character I've ever had and they like him, too.. So the Nymph was introduced as someone he could get along quite well with and adventure with) |
