IMC an NPC bard has been slain recently. she was 21st level 10 bard, 10 virtuoso, 1 druid. She has been turned into a Lich by a Troll Blood Magus.

This bard has the Requeim Feat from Song and Silence which allows her bardic music to affect the undead at half strength per the feat.

I am wondering, now that she herself is undead, would or should her abilities to affect the undead with her bardic abilities increase?

Well, if you're the Dm and it makes sense, then I don't see why not. In my book, if the fluff is good enough, the players won't care about the crunch. If it was mine... I'd say no though. It's cool enough she can do it at all, let alone do it better.

Anyway, my only problem would be this: don't you have to be willing to become a lich? It's an awful expensive procedure to do for someone who wouldn't wnat it. Vampire, I'd buy; lich... I'd have to think about that. Then again, see the above paragraph.

I am not sure if becoming a Lich works only a willing person to be honest. I think a caster with the create greater undead spell can make a lich, if I am wrong, feel free to post it.

Necromancy [Evil]
Level: Clr 8, Death 8, Sor/Wiz 8
This spell functions like create undead, except that you can create more powerful and intelligent sorts of undead: shadows, wraiths, spectres, and devourers. The type or types of undead you can create is based on your caster level, as shown on the table below.
Caster Level Undead Created
15th or lower Shadow
16th-17th Wraith
18th-19th Spectre
20th or higher Devourer
The lich-to-be has to do the ritual themselves, before they are (un)dead. Of course, it's your game, so do whatever you like.

We have a recurring enemy that is some kind of bard-lich in a game I play in. The campaign is an alternate, fantasy Earth set around the 1400s. The bard is none other than the Roman Emporer Nero. Guess what he likes to do... That's right, play his fiddle while he burns stuff. I hate that guy.

Hmmm, Oh well. Thankfully I have an in-game way to work this out. The Troll Blood Magus is worshipper of Orcus and Orcus could or should be able to transform an unwilling subject into any kind of undead.

Thanks for the input.

Undeads aren't affected by bard music and other mind affecting effect, simply because they have no mind (or soul). I'm wondering how the Requiem feat work. Indeed, perhaps being himself an undead would empower this feat.

It is easy to turn an unwilling character into a lich. Of course, the Troll Blood Magus should have to create the phylactery, but after it he only have to torture the bard until he is willing to pronounce the final spell. Then, as long as the Troll own the phylactery, he has a more than useful slave.

The Requiem Feat can be found in Song & Silence. It allows a bards music to have half effect upon the undead.
