lingering evil in a good man. [Archive] - Wizards Community

Baylith Katan, a warlock from a bloodline of warlocks 99 generations long, is the final soul in the deal for this power, but he is a twin, and ether will do. each brother was given a sword that were meant to orginaly be used together. yuan the black, and martel the white, two intelligent blades that are actualy one mind split. his brother, Aeron, receves yuan and Baylith gets martel. the two agree to meet in 5 years to decide who shall pay the bloodline price.

they go their seperate ways, each one enbracing their own style and talents in their own way. (Aeron is a npc and is avanced by the DM in a story line connected to ours)

soon after starting his adventures though, his sword is stolen.

Baylith's power grows for a time, and has several adventures. Baylith finds out about a small group of people who want to take his powers and his brothers to power an infernal machine, but we dont know what it does yet.

closing in on him, Baylith goes out on his own to find power so that he can protect himself, and finds a scythe with great power locked away in a crypt (boring i know.) feeling its power he takes it.

he returns to the group, showing them his findings, but his divine-magic friends said it was very evil and had to be put back.

however, a group came out of the shadows to take it away and after the first few attacks, it was decided that they should keep it with them to protect it from these men.

when they finaly came to the leader of this group, we could not kill him. Baylith used the scythe to kill him, and unleashed its full power.

soon after the scythe courupted his mind and body, taking him over and turning him into the next villain, Beraon.

he escaped and begain to go on a rampage to increase his power and begin his undead army.

heros began to gather to take Beraon down, not knowing what the real situation was.
Aeron joined them, wanting to protect his homeland that was so near the swath of destruction.
they tracked him down and confronted him, his aperance very different from was it was when he escaped the first time. He had been wearing a mask and no one reconized him for the hero that he was. Beraon killed his former brother and used his soul to increase his power even more. at the end of the battle, Beraon was defeatedand Baylith returned. as he was about to be beheaded, he pleaded for his life and explained what happened as quickly as he could. one of the heros reconized his voice and stoped him from dieing.
a smaller group of people, familiar with ancient binding spells, used Baylith's excess energy to reseal the blade's orginal binding. the seal was weaker, however, than the orginal one and had to be constantly supplyed with the same kind of energy. so Baylith became the blade's perminent protector.

he decided to weld it after the remaining power tryed to continuly force him to use it.

but the blade's power still trys to control him, and know he cant get rid of it unless he wants Beraon to be free to do as he pleases with a new host. the seal protects him from full control, but it still can affect his judgement often.

and just to make things worse, demonic forces are visting him asking him where his brother's soul is, and it's only a matter of time before one of the older demons reconizes the weapon for what it is and wants it in place of his brother's soul, which is a very unfair and dangerous to the gerneral multiverse to let him out again.

can anyone give tips on how to play this kind of affect? and how can i hide a weapon that doesnt want to leave my hand unless it has killed for the day and it can't a be a summoned monster. current level is 16 just to give you a general idea of our resouces, but one important thing is that the group is part of an afilation, but not one specailized in any way about ancient demon pacts and cursed lesser artifacts, i mean the spellcaster numbers in the group is REALY low.

09-28-07, 01:42 AM What if it was possible to trade Beraon's soul in exchange for your brother's? Maybe some sort of quest to transfer the soul from the sword and into a vessel like a Magic Jar, and then negotiate with the demon to take that soul instead?

09-28-07, 07:22 AM its not that easy, the item itself is bonded to that soul and Aeron's is in a place i can't get to anyway, altough that doesnt mean that i cant play stupid and get the demons and such to go looking for it. should work.

and just to say, Beron isnt the same type of soul, his "soul" is the remaining power of a demon, an outsider, they dont have any actual soul to give or put in a magic jar. not a bad idea though.
