| hoosierhayeslpe03-12-06, 10:36 PM | Looking for help with a new D&D character. After 20 years away from D&D (but still playing other games) I started playing in a Living Greyhawk game about six months ago. As a lover of westerns my first character was "The Crossbow Kid", a half-orc ranger who favored the crossbow. He got kicked silly and was basically unusable by 3rd level, at which point he died. I have since been playing a cleverly manipulative rogue - ranger - marshal, but I need to start a new character and would like to revisit the western idea. So far I have three ideas. The mechanics work out fine for each, but I want to make the roleplaying experience interesting. The ideas are: The Sheldomar Kid, half orc cleric of Kord with a little barbarian. Big, fun loving bruiser, wear buckskins (hide armor) and carries a pig-sticker (greatsword). Always the loudest guy in the tavern and the first to pick a fight. Amel Funk, half orc druid, and his trusty wolf Scab, the ugliest dog in the Sheldomar Valley. Big, ugly, fights with a big "bowie knife" (scimitar). More mountain man than man of nature. Think Amos Malone from Alan Dean Foster's Mad Amos. The Masked Avenger, human warmage, who fought on the wrong side of the recent Necromancer War in Bissel. Now wears a mask to hide his shame, and uses his magic to right wrongs throughout the valley. Fastest magic missle finger in Greyhawk. This is my first post, so thanks for reading this far. If you have any additional ideas or comments on the ones above, please send them on! I may have to start the character on 3/17, so time is unfortunately of the essence. |

He had a brush with the wrong side of the law in his youth as a horse rustler but saw the light and devoted himself up holding the law. Courteous and handsome he is the Gentleman with a hard edge. With his trusty Peace Maker (bastard sword or long sword if you don't want to spend the feat) he walks tall and the law walks with him. I must admit that I am not big western fan but I have seen a few and loved Shanghai Noon |
