| NeonDante04-08-07, 06:07 PM | Hello all! I'm new to the forums. I've recently started playing in a play by post game in the Midnight setting, and have a bit of a problem. The DM wants us all to get pictures of our characters, and I have been unable to find a good one. I made one with hero builder to use as a kind of placeholder, but I'd really like a better one. I've looked at the PC portraits on this website, and didn't find one I liked, I've looked through google image search, and still no luck, so I was wondering if someone knew where I could find some good pictures, or even had one that was suitable. My character, Rand Calivar, is a Defender, which is the Midnight version of a monk. (It focuses less on the spiritual aspects of the martial arts and more on the practical. It's less like modern artistic fighting, and more like martial arts at their inception. Weapons and armor are illegal in Midnight, and it's a way for the oppressed to fight unarmed, or with weapons that are also tools.) He is fairly handsome, and very strong, though not that large. He carries a staff, and wears a backpack and a tool belt. He is a carpenter, and dresses like one, so as to hide in plain sight, though his clothes are well padded to help protect him and loose, to hide his powerful build. The specifics aren't that important to me, though, as long as he looks like a commoner. He has brown hair, blue eyes, and is cleanshaven. Rand is of minor noble blood and although he has no power or status, he thinks of himself as a noble with a noble's duties and responsibilities. So basically, I'm looking for a heroic looking medieval commoner. This is a problem, as many people are inspired to draw knights, wizards and barbarians, but I've yet to find a heroic carpenter. (Well, except one... and I wouldn't feel right using Him as a D&D character, and besides, I'm not playing a cleric. :D ) If someone could find a good picture, I would be very grateful. I'd prefer a full body or torso-up, but just a face would be okay. |
| Dalmaris_cerebromancer04-08-07, 07:25 PM | Use a search engain (srry bad at spelling) like google or something. If that doesn't work search around wizards. They have a whole section dedicated to PC pictures. |
| The Smartest Lemming04-08-07, 07:30 PM | I have found that http://www.epilogue.net/index.php has some pretty good portraits, and I have used some for any pbp game that I've done. I would suggest that you check in the fantasy art section, and use the portrait keyword, along with anything else that you might be interested in. just be warned that the site does not have the greatest search features, but it does have some good artists on it. |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose04-09-07, 01:17 AM | Read the stickied rules first but there are some very good artist right here on the Wizards' boards. Wizards' art boards (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=391) |
| NeonDante04-12-07, 01:39 AM | http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t116/Neondante/portrait1.jpg Well, I've been looking all over, and this is the best I found. Not really what I was looking for. The beard and earrings don't really fit my character. Any thoughts? |
| Argentsaber05-03-07, 05:15 PM | try elfwood? http://elfwood.lysator.liu.se/elfwood.pike it generally works for me, though you do have to sift out the thirdgraders (and be careful, a few artists there specificly ask you not to use their work in this way). |
