Looking for feedback on Fochun Lyrist [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-22-05, 03:17 AM I don't exactly remember what is called but it's a bard/druid hybrid from CAd. I'm currently going to start a character at level 5 that is going to work towards this PrC. The build I have is Brd2/Dru3/Mnk2/Wiz3/PrC10. With evasion as a requirement for the PrC my choices were rogue2 or monk2. I chose monk because I took wizard levels, and wizards don't/can't wear armor with heavy penalties. Now the PrC I want is a bard/druid mix. At each level they gain +1 caster level in both arcane and divine spells. So what I'm doing is by taking wizard levels I will be leveling up my wizard caster level instead of my bard caster level thus having more powerful spells overall. By the time I'm level 20 I'll have a BAB slightly lower than 3/4 progression, base saves all at least 10, I'll be casting spells as a level 13 wizard and druid. Have a better than average skill set. A familiar, animal companion, I plan on taking leadership as well, I'll have level 12 bardic music abilities.

Does anyone have any ideas about this build. Is it really weak, better than average? Can you suggest feats or gear I should invest in?

05-25-05, 10:10 AM 1) You should post it on the Character Optimisation board instead.

2) Are you sure you are allowed to level up your Wizard caster levels instead of bard?

3) Does your PrC is added to your druid level for your Animal Companion? If not, your animal companion will be weak for a 20th level character. Also, the familiar and animal companion each give you a -2 malus to your leadership score regarding a cohort, for a total of -4.

2) Yes I'm sure. The text about leveling up in spells says that I I had more than one casting class of a type (arcane/divine) I have to choose which one I want to bring up each level.

3) I do realize that. I'm not going to get a humanoid cohort. So I'm just gonna wait until I'm high enough level to get a griffen or pegasus or something like that.

05-29-05, 12:55 PM 1) Regardless of whether you want optimization or not you certainly don't appear to be after roleplaying advice, which this board focuses on, and the optimization board really does handle requests such as yours.

3) Have you considered the CV Natural Bond feat? Adds +3 to your level for animal companion, but not above your hit dice.
