Hey guys, I've just started making a char that will be set in the LoTR universe. We're using a healthy dose of homebrew rules and I'm playing a Sindarin Elf from Mirkwood for all you people to whom that means anything. His name essentialy means "Border Watch" and is a dexy fighter/stealth build (which is horribly overdone I know, but I promise he's not a legolas clone) using a shortbow and short sword.

Anyways I've already decided I want to introduce an NPC who will be a rival of sorts and just generally make a nuissance of himself.

The things I need to work out are general fluff and who my rival is and why he hates me so, doesn't have to be working towards the same goals as a typical rival would but instead be more of a personal archvillain. Anyways, any suggestions would be welcomed.

Hmm...a Noldorin elf of Lórien (originally Eregion) who was associated with the Gwaith-i-Mírdain? Ample grounds there for a simple personality conflict. Maybe the other elf was a Kinslayer to boot, if that doesn't imply too high a level.

It could be a rivalty from back in your childhood. You prevented him to date with your sister, you dated with the girl he wanted, you were chosen in the High Patrol in place of himself...
