| femmehack06-23-05, 06:05 PM | So, I'm working on a 20th level bard for a new campaign, and my character concept is that he's basically a rock star--he's cocky, well known in the world, well loved by the ladies, and generally a big deal. But, I want him to be focused on bardic music abilities and buffing the other party members rather than any actual combat, so much so that he is refuses to kill. All his combat would be geared towards tripping and disarming his opponents and trying to dissolve combat diplomatically. So, basically, I want him to be a pacifist, but also a respectable combatant and no one to mess with lightly--he is a rockstar, after all. The game has 8 other PCs in it, so I figure they have all the combat powerhouses that they need, and I wanted to do something a bit different. Are there any suggestions on how to put this character together. |

You sound like you've got the basic Bard down pat fairly well (I don't like em much, myself), and the "very famous" thing will make for interesting trips to towns and such. You will probably get tons of things for free (or cheaper than usual), and many people will follow you around. This'll get to be a nuisance, I immagine. As for being a lover, not a fighter, I would go... Improved Unarmed Strike (you fit the "not a fighter" category by not having any weapons) Dodge (avoid an attacker) Mobility (get away from attackers without getting hit) Spring Attack (get in, trip a would be attacker, get out) Improved Trip. After you've got these, it's a principle of where you want to go. I would say Improved Sunder and Improved Disarm sound like something you would go for. Sundering weapons with your fists would make for one bad-boy bard. And I guess the final thing to say about your rocker-bard... Face-Paint. KISS style, use lots of it and rock with it. Play an accoustic that is magically enhanced to echo. You'll get that electric distortion effect, and the ladies will love you for the mysterious man behind the face-paint :) |
