I am playing an artificer in a new OA campaign (yes my dm let me import it) and really need some help with a story. I have him currently set up as a court crafter/supplier for the Imperial Army. However he is a complete mad scientist type. Some phrases you might hear him say are things like, "Of course it's not finished. It doesn't go boom yet," and the like.

I need some help with a story and with some other fun lines this guy might say. He is a complete pyro and obsessed with explosions. He also hasn't left his basement workshop in the last 10 years.

No matter what situation your party gets involved with, the first words out of his mouth should be something along the lines of "Light it on fire, that will fix it"

All his magic items that he creates should just be odd, mad scientist not practical, so maybe a bracer of armor that also opens bottles or a head band of Int that holds mini-metal water skins

Great ideas. I love it. I'll make a whole bunch of absolutely impractical crap extras attached on to my stuff. Right now I'm thinking of a stiletto boot with a full set of silverware popping out on springs instead of just a knife. Or possibly a hat that shoots caltrops. I'll just come up with a bunch of bizarre inventions.

I really like the idea of setting things on fire to fix them. To see this character he wanders around with about 50 alchemists fires strapped across his chest on a bandolier. He has blown himself up many times.

Talk to your DM about maybe getting some kind of improvised Fire resistance becuase you have lit yourself on fire so many times, maybe take some negitives to social skills since you have been in your lab for 10 years

Oh yeah, he will have some definite penalties to social skills. I will try to pass that off as a flaw to take. I'm buying fireproof clothing from the Planar Handbook which at least protects my clothes. He also has no eyebrows.
