I commissioned a little anime-style portrait of my character specifying what she looked like, so now I want to go the reverse way and do a sort of rorschach test: given the picture, how do you view the character? What do you think her character class is, etc.? Background? Goals? What does she want out of adventuring? What do YOU think?

Note: I am NOT the artist, this was done for an RPG making computer program.

She Looks like a Monk to Me.

or maybe a Druid.

Yeah, she looks like a monk. Her story is, when she was a baby, her parents were killed by a band of orcs, and she was adopted by a group of monks that lived in a monistary not far from where she lived. Now, she demands revenge on the orcs for doing what they've done.

Sorcerer. Out for revenge against a gang of thugs that assaulted her with ugly sticks. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v402/Sikyanakotik/mooglegasp.png

Seriously, the arcane sigils just scream Sorcerer, maybe Enlightened Fist. The fact that she seems to carry nothing but a plain staff implies she's taken a Vow of Poverty, while the green-on-brown implies the poor girl's colourblind... Aw cripes, I did it again! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v402/Sikyanakotik/mooglesad.png

I agree on the sorcerer thing. The arcane sigils on arm and clothing probably hint to a sort of tribal history. Maybe she is part of a dragon worshipping tribe and she is one of those blessed with arcane powers and therefore very important for her tribe (maybe even future tribal leader). That could explain why they tattooed those signs on her.

Why does she adventure? Maybe she couldn't handle the responsibility of becoming an important member of her tribe and she ran away from her responisibility. Now she wanders the lands trying to survive and she soon discovered that her powers are admired by adventurers. (Id make her really young, as young as a starting sorcerer can be, to hint to the fact that she ran away in her teenage years)

Groovy! I actually had her conceived as a wizard, of all things, but a weird one who wanders the earth instead of getting stuck in a tower all day.

But I like a lot of your interpretations better! hmmm...

saw this in a movie once...

perhaps the runes on her body are part of a scroll or incantation to which she must protect. (bulletproof monk) she is imbued with some special powers such as air leap. air leap could be used to double her jump height as she has the power to take a single step in the air as if she were stepping on stone. usable 1/day moving up as she does in levels.

other unqiue (but not over powering) abilties could give your character a sense or anime with regards to the pyhsics often seen ( characters that can practilly fly with their jumps) but still is realilistic to be seen in a fantasy world.

as for a reason she has these runes, one explaination cold be that when she was born she fufilled a prophecy.

just my take on it

A Wandering Wizard doesn't seem so odd. I mean, not all scientists hang out in libraries, pouring over dusty tomes for their whole lives. How could the field of magic advance if all wizards did was sit and read?

That said, I concur that the picture has a general sorcerous feel.

Halfling sorcerer. Just to be different.

Known for her shocking blue eyes she is a regal figure for a halfling. She tries to keep her magics hidden, using them sparingly but to great effect. Her love is the halfling monk known as Knitting Wombat. Their similar dress confuses enemies and they do not know which is the spell caster and whick is the martial master untill it is too late.

nifty. hmmm...what do you think makes her a sorcerer vs wizard? I've always been a little unclear on the distinction as far as archetypes go since WotC bifurcated the mage class in 3rd ed.

No spell book and light gear. With echew materials the most componetnts you have to carry is a few pearls in your coin pouch for the first few levels. Also Sorcerers tend to be more individualistic in style since they tend to train themselves or have a mentor of some sort. Wheras wizards tend to be parts of a society of wizards. Just as people who go to Yale tend to have similar styles, wizards tend to do the same.

heeehee...I love that analogy, though J.K. Rowling beat us to it with Hogwarts.

Gotcha, I'll see if I can get her s'more gear.
