Namely Dark Matter and Black Hole. I have a general idea of how they would work; Black Hole would be about a level 8 fortitude Save or Die and Dark Matter would be a Area of Effect negitive energy spell at spell level 9. The problem is, i dont know how to balance these spells so they still rock, but they arent over powered. And also, what to use as DCs for saves and dice for damage and what not. So i turn for help. |

You're not developing a character so much as you're blatantly ripping one off from a video game (or paying homage to Magus, someone with a more positive outlook on life might say). But, to answer your question anyway.. I'd simply research Dark Matter as an original spell, following Fireball as a template. Substituting negative energy damage for fire damage is probably a good idea, and I'd say this would increase the spell level by at least one (since neg energy damage is difficult to resist, and be totally cheesy in combination with undead minions). If you want to bump the spell level up even higher, you could raise the die limit to 15 or increase the damage to d8/level rather than d6. Either would also add a level or two to the spell's total power. As for Black Hole, I'd base it on Finger of Death, which is already a 7th level spell. Really, I don't see any need to alter the spell except for the visual effect. ~Ginger |
