My backup character i am making for my saturday game is a Marrulurk (Jackal man from Sandstorm) Hexblade who wields an Executioner's Sword.
His parents were part of a rebel faction who were bent on escaping the rule of the mages, they succeded but were hunted down and killed.
He only survived because he was trapped under his parents dead bodies, and they didn't bother to look there.
He traveled to the nearest city where the only work he could get was as the Executioner. he saved up enough money so he could start traveling and became an adventurer

My problem is this: his main goal is to punish those he feels deserve it (good and evil) somewhat akin to The Boondock Saints though no god-stuff
He will probably end up with a lawful neutral alignment
He wants to eventually avenge his parents, but he figures that he will find those people sooner or later among all of those he executes and is not seeking them out
SO, how can I come up with a more fleshed out backstory and personality without making him exactly like The Punisher?

Why do villans never look under the bodies of parents? Id say thats probably thier number one downfall... there always seems to be a kid under their who will one day become powerfull enough to kill them....

As for not being like the punisher.. just have mercy... care about the people your saving... and try to minimise collateral damage.

Its not much.. but im brain dead atm.
