| JustinE1212-21-04, 10:08 PM | so thanks to the libris mortis i got this great idea why not make a master of shrouds/master of radiance, my DM said it would be fine if i could come up a decent reason for/story behind it, my problem is this, I can't thin of a single thing, so i turn to you what do you guys think any help is appreciated |
| KikUSquaNtheNuts12-21-04, 11:29 PM | What about a rivalry between two masters of the undead? The PC could start with Cleric --->Master of Shrouds and then find himself with some archenemy who has the same love of the undead (such as a true necromancer or another master of shrouds). In this case, the PC could either seek to bolster his own minions so that they defeat the opponent's (as in taking corpsecrafter and related feats) or learn to destroy the enemy's undead (the master of radiance approach). Am I making sense here? Hope this idea helps.... |
| Kingside_Bishop12-22-04, 03:30 PM | I really like this idea! It could be very interesting. I love dualistic aligments (see my sig for why), so here's my take: Elves can be cold, lethal opponents on the field of battle. But when elves fight eachother, emotions run high as blood flows freely. This was such a day, as a Sun Elf army clashed with the forces of their Drow enemies. He was wounded, and she had sworn an oath to heal him. After allowing her to bandage his wounds, he watched her move around the field, saving the lives of both friends and enemies. He was unable to move very quickly, so there was little he could do when he saw the arrow heading straight for her. She dodged at the last second, but the arrow buried deep within her shoulder. Knowing that the most vile poisons were reserved for healers, he crawled over to her, and afforded her a dose of the antitoxin that all drow carry. He ran his ebony hand through her golden hair as she drifted into unconsciousness. Fifty years later, a child was born to a Sun Elf Elf and a Drow -- the first in thousands upon thousands of years. The Shadow and the Light can never touch, although they must co-exist. Such was it with this child. There was a seam within him. On one side resided his mother's Light -- he was golden skinned, with fair hair and light eyes. On the other side rose his father's Darkness -- his skin was sable, with hair of white and eyes of red. These outward manifestations were only extensions of the conflict within him, however. He was full of an unspeakable evil, but equally full of an incomprehensible good. Here's how I would stat it out: Aligment: True Neutral Race: Half Sun Elf / Half Drow Class: Cleric 5 / Wizard 1 / Master of Radiance 5 / Master of Shrouds 9 01 Clr 1 Spontaneous Healer, Rebuke Undead, Death and Healing Domains 02 Clr 1 / Wiz 1 Scribe Scroll 03 Clr 2 / Wiz 1 Exotic Weapon Proficiency -- Chain 04 Clr 3 / Wiz 1 05 Clr 4 / Wiz 1 06 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 Weapon Finesse -- Chain 07 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 1 08 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 2 09 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 3 Two Weapon Fighting 10 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 3 / MoS 1 11 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 3 / MoS 2 12 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 4 / MoS 2 Expertise 13 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 4 / MoS 3 14 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 3 15 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 4 Improved Trip 16 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 5 17 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 6 18 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 7 Improved Disarm 19 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 8 20 Clr 5 / Wiz 1 / MoR 5 / MoS 9 To play a half drow, take the Drow race at 1st level. You can do this by using the Savage Progressions advancement, found here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040213a). Scroll down to the Drow section, and you'll find instructions on how to play a Drow without a level adjustment. You just won't have some of the Drow's coolest abilities. For simplicity, here's a list of what you will have: +2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution, +2 Intelligence Medium size Land speed is 30 feet Proficiency with the hand crossbow, rapier, and short sword Dancing Lights (caster level equals drow's character level) once per day Darkvision to a 60-foot range Immunity to magic Sleep spells and effects Light Blindness (dazzled in sunlight) -- try and get your DM to throw this out, because you're only half drow +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks Automatic Languages: Common, Elven, Undercommon Favored Class: Wizard (male) or Cleric (female)Since most of the Sun Elf abilities overlap with these, just use this race and call yourself Half Drow / Half Sun Elf. For your weapon, I like the "Chain," from Oriental Adventures. It deals 1d6 damage, is large size, you can take Weapon Finesse with it, you can use it as a double weapon or a reach weapon (but not both at the same time), you can use it to trip, and it gets +2 on disarm attempts. Have one side enchanted with the Holy enhancement, and the other enchanted with the Unholy ehancement. What do you think? |
