| Trydan08-16-04, 09:12 AM | I'm creating a new character who was, at one point, a junior officer in a dwarven army. What I'd like to do would be to give him some sort of rank. While I want to steer away from modern-history equivalents (Seargeant, Feldwebel, and so forth), the system of page, squire, kinght, etc. has the right feel to it, but doesn't sound particularly dwarvish. Does anyone have any suggestions for some dwarven ranks? Thanks! |
| Araciel08-16-04, 09:51 PM | it's funny...because i'm actually working in a mostly dwarven campaign world right now... i use a system with dwarf-like terms, mixed with clan-like terms, which i think works wll to adhere to dwarvish warfare and teminology at the same time, just a suggestion that you use the same system an infantry man is called a Stone, with different levels attached to it, so a low-level infantryman would be called a stone son, higher up like a captain is a stone brother, and a lieutenant or possibly general is a stone father so stone is used for infantry, heart is used for clerics and healers hearth is used for planners and engineers i dunno, just good system for us so far |

I like this idea. The other option that I'd considered was medieval titles: Ceorl, Theign, Thrall, and so on. Maybe I could combine the two? |
