How can you do this?

How about, say, Psychicrogue2/Hexblade3/War Mind5/Sanctifed Mind 6/Exotic Weapon Master. What kind of coherent story are we talking about here?

It's not all that incoherant. The character has two main themes: Combat (Hexblade to level 3 only, all with full BAB, and EWM), and Psionics (Psionic Rogue, War Mind, Sanctified Mind). The CoB sees classes and prestige classes as parts of a whole, not seperate identities that you need to be slavishly devoted to. You can even have a backstory exactly as if you had a psychic warrior (which this pretty much is, but with some better abilities and attack power). Certain sections of this build has roleplaying elements, most particularly the Warmind, but since you're already a fighter type with psychic power, searching for neary mythic texts that meld the two disciplines better together is no surprise.

Run with it.

well you can also base background stores on race or alinment (sp)....or you chould base it on just things that have happened before with out useing class/race.....

When using background, often I take a look at the total abilities of my character, and ignore the fluff attached to the classes. So a relatively simple Rogue 3/ Half-elf Substitution fighter 3/ Outcast champion 4 is merely a fighter who knows the value of stealth, constantly strives to be aware and prepared to deal with his surroundings, is skilled at getting off oppurtunic strikes, and is a leader that can inspire others. Then I can throw on whatever flavour I want for his motivation. If I want to keep with the text, just meld them as much as I can.

I don't believe there is a rule that you have to accept the fluff of a prestige class as well as the abilities. Especially for Min-maxing, abiding by what you're given can create a convoluted and paradoxical character.
