Monk / Ninja (Moral Code or Code of Honor) [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-08-05, 10:36 PM I'm playing a Lawful Neutral half vamp / half moon elf monk-ninja (gestalt) character in the Forgotten Realms setting. My character hails from the region of Thesk. I've tried to come up with a good personal moral code / code of honor for him but have so far drawn a blank.

I open the floor to you, my player colleagues, for any assistance you may be able to lend.

03-09-05, 10:07 PM You know, as something Bushido/Bullshido-esque jumps to mind, it'd be cool to kind of take it in a different direction. Make the guy a total dedicated socialist/Communist. He's dedicated to overthrowing the ruling class and aiding the common people. He hates churches, aristocracies, and all forms of established power. He wants to work towards a utopian society, where all men and women are equal and none suffer from poverty.
Look up a copy of the Communist Manifesto or Mao's Little Red Book for inspirational rhetoric.

03-10-05, 03:05 AM The Problem with Socialism/Communism is that it's lawfully chaotic. Looking at a Lesser known Elven deity (Fenmarel Mestarine pg. 127 Faiths and Pantheons), his dogma and worshippers could easily include ninja type characters. There could even be a sect of his clergy similar to that of the Togakure Ryu of feudal Japan. It may take a little tinkering, but justifying a Monastic Order shouldn't be that hard. Considering his doctrine, it would be likely that this sect would train those in Rogue like arts to accomplish his goals, and consisting mostly of outcasts would be more willing to use unorthodox or foreign methods (Being a monk) to accomplish those goals, which are from my dwindling state of sanity considering the time, which are secretly watching Elven borders.

After looking in Faiths and Pantheons, I see why Fenmarel Mestarine would fit the ninja/monk mold and how a ninja clan similar to the Togakure Ryu could be created. We'll have to work on the details this weekend but having a good working idea will really help the thought processes. ( :thinks: )
