Much like your screen name, you could make a drunk monk who will eventually takes levels in drunken master. That would be an interesting spin on the traditional monk.

Another thing is you can make the priestly monk, a monk of pelor or a god within a step of your alignment.

You should also check out the thread 1001 character quirks. It has some good suggestions for quirks a character could have and maybe that will help you choose something or you can fit it into your plot.

Not much of a suggestion, but maybe you'll go. "Hey, you know, the drunken master thing sounds kinda interesting." And build from their.

there is a magic item i forget from where but i think its name is the mug of everfullness and upon commasnd it is either filled with ail wine or water so you could incorporate that. plus it helps keep down tabs

hahaha... thats kinda funny actually... we just got that item last session.

Right now what im thinking is growing up in hamlet (our campain takes place in the "return to the temple of elemental evil" module) Just thinking of being another person that helps the monk and fighter look around at the gnoll encampment thing. Ill have to get more details from my dm though. Heck if nothing else it will give me more backround plot haha.

The town drunk who no one realizes is a martial artist master. Background wise you should think of some questions to answer, some include, but are not limited to.

Have you lived in the town all your life?
Why did you start drinking?
Where did you learn to fight?
What are some of your goals?

And a lot more after that, but just some up with twenty or so questions and answer them, thats makes you think about it.

Nah, iv decided not to be a drunken master ... but probably a 15 monk/shintaomonk/tattooed monk combination. Then 5 shadowdancer. Since im assisting the other monk scout, it kinda fits in.

also i found this 100 question thing on the internet to help with plot stuff(some of it is really strange) Its helping a lot.. any suggestions on what i can do with this plot.... its basically i live there (somehow) become a monk.. hook up with this other monk... watch over a gnoll encampment then go to "avenge the town" because i found other people that would help me destroy the temple... yea kinda corny but ill work on it

Monk plot ideas

1).- the old master has vanished from the monastery you must first deal with the rest of the monks who try to take its place while at the same time find out what has happened to him

2).-the reincarnation of an old master has been reborn but on enemy lands its yoyur duty to go and bring him back to the temple for proper education by all means nesesary

3).-a warrior chieftain has asked the temple to send him a spiritual guide to go along with them in their conquests

4).-Tournament several monasteries are invited to send their junior participants to a tournament you must watch out for foul play while trying to advance

Hope its of use

OK, iv got the whole plot thing done, now i just have questions about his alignment and how he acts... Hes lawful neutral and his village (hamlet) was destroyed 21 (not exactly sure) years ago by the temple of elemental evil ... his dad turns out to be helping the TOEE by spying on the village, his (my) girlfriend finds out about the dad, so the dad kills her and when he does this i walk in (some reason or another) and get really ticked off (i cant see that its him since he is wearing the black robes) and kill him (gotta love plot luck :D) So at this point dads dead, girlfriends dead and soon the temple attacks the town, so a bunch of people from the town die (not my mother so im not one of those players who is like "my whole family died so i became an adventurer", but 1 of my 3 brothers did die) so a bunch of stuff happens (i wont get into that, its not very important)

so first question ... would that make a lawful good person go lawful neutral (seems like it to me, then agian my views of alignment can be messed up a lot)

second question, would he kill anyone that he sees from the temple, get information then kill them, restrain himself and let them go( id probably go with the second)

this is just one of those things, making sure that id roleplay him right... im a noob trying to get better at roleplaying :D

If he were to kill them i don't think it would be acting upon a very moral code. However, if he is lawfull evil he can torture people and thats allways fun.
