| MiscDebris11-12-04, 01:35 AM | I'm playing an artificer in an Eberron campaign. He is working hard to advocate better rights for Warforged. So here's the problem. The party cleric, a Warforged, was just killed with a death effect. We're all level 2. My character wants him to be brought back. The rest of the party agrees. Now the issue. The rest of the party wants to strip the adamantine bodied warforged for parts and sell them to help raise the money to case ressurection. I think my artificer would be horrified to this practice. I'm not sure how to handle this. I keep seeing him wondering if they will chop someone else up and sell them for parts should they fall. Makes me want to consider abandoning my artificer and playing another character (assuming they decide to go through with this and I am unable to convince them to use another option). I'm looking for perhaps a cheaper way to have the warforged returned to life, or a way to talk them out of it. I'm looking for something. Anything. MiscDebris |

How would this affect the warforged if they don't? Anyways, back to your question, it really would be like taking a fallen comrades arm and selling it so you can raise them. The party memeber probably wouldn't really apprciate it and it wouldn't grow back I don't believe. (I would have to recheck the raise dead spell) So if your character is really against it, act that way. Really it falls on the Warforged character's creator on what he/she wants to do with the character. After all, even if the character does get raised, it will only be at level one with 500 exp. The creator could very well make a new character should selling parts of the warforged create problems. Considering the loss would be only 500 exp and a lot less money. EDIT: Also try talking to the DM, maybe he could have the warforged raised, provided you work off your debt to some NPC or Orginization. Looking for that amount of money this early in the game will hinder the warforged character from loss of roleplaying and any combat that you might go into. |
| MiscDebris11-12-04, 02:16 AM | The warforged was killed by a death effect, so raise dead and reincarnation are out of the question. We would need to start at resurrection. And resurrection recreates the body as long as we still have some of it. That's not quite the question I was asking. Whether the warforged's player decides to continue or not isn't relevant, I believe. The problem is the chopping up and selling of the warforged body. My character believes it would exactly a human body apart and selling it. That is the issue. And it's a big one. MiscDebris |

Is it comparable to armor - something which could easily be stripped off a human knight to resurrect him? It's not like you're really cutting in flesh, here, and the 'forged will come back with all his sold bits anyhow, none the wiser. Would some character disagree if his hands were sold to a necromancer to pay for a complete resurrection? Some would... Could also be interesting to play out; Sell the adamantine to an armorsmith and have him make an adamantine armor for another partymember...Could be a nice focus for a Shield Other spell or bonding between the forged and the wearer of his skin... |
