Mounts & Feats [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-18-07, 05:34 PM I was looking to make a new character based on Mounts and combat. After seaching through a few books i cames to realize, besides the listed feats in the PHB there's not much esle out there.
I also thought about a centraur or wemic but the ECL is quite steep if you as me. I did find some info on how to make a +0 centaur though.
If you could point me in a direction (links to previous posts) or books i would be grateful

05-18-07, 06:20 PM Are you asking about feats to give your character, or feats to give your mount?

I think there are feats for improving a paladin's mount in Frostburn and Book of Exalted Deeds, and feats for changing (if not improving) a Ranger or Druid's animal companion in the Eberron Campaign Setting.

The halfling outrider is a solid choice but i was curious about what esle was out there.

No. You just take away feats from the stat block and replace them with different feats, or, if they grow in HD by some way then they'll get feats based on their HD, like a character does.

I have been toying around with the idea that it should be possible to fuse a familiar with the summoned paladin mount (almost like the Arcane hierophant familiar companion) if you are playing a paladin/sorcerer/eldricht knight type of character.

I do not know if there is such a feat to select, but if there is (where pal/sorc levels stack) you would expect the mount to be inteligent and gain feats like a familiar.

From an RP perspective, riding a familiar should also gain bonuses in maneuverability and so on due to its inteligence and communication abilities.

...then again... I do not know the rules that well and I am separated from the rule books at the moment :(

You don't need to be a Ranger. You could be a Paladin, Druid, or Beastmaster (and take Track as a feat) instead.
