| Kimper7Quimper7Zagzig706-24-07, 03:38 AM | Title says it all mostly. I'm gonna be a good guy hero with uber altruism going on. So what kinda things would an action movie Jesus say? |
| warwinner06-24-07, 05:01 AM | I am always there for you You can count on me Leave it to me What's bothering you ? can i be of any help ? No, i don't need anything in return.Glad to help Keep smiling |
| Alltat06-24-07, 07:14 AM | What's the reason for his selflessness? |
| Kimper7Quimper7Zagzig706-24-07, 08:22 AM | I felt like playing a Superman type of character. Someone who is caring, good through and through, dependable and a friend to all. :) I havent made a full history. I see him as being someone meant for great things, having a divine (good) connection and defender of the weak. |
| Nobi06-24-07, 10:37 AM | If he's religious (Read As: Paladin/Cleric), he could spout preachy-type things, like: "I Will guide my sheep through the Valley of Darkness/By my hand, the Hammer of Kord will oppress those who seek to oppress the weak!" Or, if he's not so much that way, and you want him to inspire the other party members, encourage them when they're down, or getting hit, or don't believe in themselves. "Come on, Lidda, I saw how you put that knife in that ogre's kidneys! Don't tell me it wasn't all you! Get up! Let's go!" Mebbe just watch a movie with an inspirational leader, like Braveheart or LOTR, listen to their rhetoric, and adapt it. |
| green_girl07-07-07, 11:38 AM | "My faith is my weapon. This sword (or whatever you're using) is merely an ally." "I'd rather die than see you harmed." "Even if you in the valley of the shadow of death, fear no evil for I am here with you." (that one's a variation from a Bible quote) |
| pbradley17907-07-07, 03:10 PM | "The Gods help those who help each other." "Freedom is the right of all sentient species." |
| TheAnthroDM07-08-07, 04:10 PM | "My life is a cost I am willing to pay for your safety" |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose07-09-07, 06:44 AM | "No price is too high to protect the sanctity of life (or freedom), for life (or freedom) is priceless." |
| Stormbrand07-09-07, 12:56 PM | Actually, I have an Aasimar Paladin like this who I play on freeform. These are less lines, but more ideas. Ask questions about others, their dreams, their hopes, their ambitions. Take an interest in them, and try and steer concepts away from yourself. Ask how people are, their welfare, how they feel. Give out compliments and encouragement. Point out their better acts, what they do out of kindness, or courage, or honesty. Comment on the moral quality of their actions, give praise for their better natures. Looking at Paladins With Class, I like this, But some of the party scout's actions are likely to earn your disapproval. When they do, don't nag or become self-righteous. Instead, register your dissatisfaction without rancor and keep an eye on the scout in the future. If you've done a good job of making your paladin admirable, your quiet displeasure should prove most compelling. These are some lines that my paladin has used. "I have known great fortune, and through that fortune, it is within my power to act when others are powerless to fight for themselves. I am no better than any other, only more fortunate. When I have known such plenty, and others, with equal right to it, starve and fear, how do I have any right to do different?" "If I may ask one thing of you. It is never believe yourself less than a brave man." (when wronged or receiving an apology) "There is nothing to forgive. When I become perfect, then I will ask the same of you. Deal?" "You deserve better, and I shall see that you get it." "Fear not." "Lean on me." "No harm will come to you, I will not allow it." "Helping others is an opportunity, not a burden." |
| Aaarrrgh07-09-07, 02:41 PM | "Sometimes I wonder why I keep doing this. Whenever I see a face spoiled by tears, I remember." |
| kheris07-10-07, 10:28 AM | Wow... There are some great lines here... I feel like I'm trying to follow Louis Black at a comedy show ;) My cleric (Morninglord of Lathander) uses these lines like this, ergo, some would probably be best for a sun god worshipper or healer, so your mileage may vary... "Fear not the darkness, it is pierced by our righteous light!" "Come friend, let me ease the suffering of both your body and you soul." (during an argument between others) "Friends, friends! Sit, and tell me what troubles you so." "I'm your doctor and your priest, I'll see to your wellbeing in any way I can." (comforting a wounded ally)"The pain of your wounds will pass, I'll see to that." "Everyone falters now and again. Learn from your mistakes and make right what you can." "So, you plan to go off alone, into the mouth of the Abyss? Nonsense. Let me carry your bags." |
| Aaarrrgh07-11-07, 05:04 AM | "So, you plan to go off alone, into the mouth of the Abyss? Nonsense. Let me carry your bags." I loved that one! |
| KillFrenzy07-11-07, 07:27 AM | Well i can think of non fomforting things to say. Like: "Im going to eat your eyes" or "I shagged your wife" |
| Terjon of the Blue Rose07-12-07, 01:37 AM | Its part paraphrased from Wheel of Time and part inspired by memories of an old trip to the holocaust museum but... When I stop hating the use of my sword I shall cast it away. When I stop hating those who would do wickedness I shall consider myself lost. But when I stop hating altogether... Then I shall consider myself a good man. |
| green_girl07-12-07, 07:12 AM | "Unless a grain of wheat falls, into the ground, it will remain but a grain of wheat. But if it falls and dies, it will bear much fruit. I can be that grain of wheat for you." |
| Hideous Phidias07-14-07, 12:43 AM | Scream "NO" as everyone kills you, then make new character. |
| Callista07-14-07, 07:49 AM | If you've got a Bible, check out the book of John. (It'll be towards the end.) green-girl's quote is from Jesus--who, incidentally, said quite a lot more very quotable things like that. Some Bibles even have anything jesus said in red, which makes your job easier. If you don't mind plowing through Shakesperian English, try the King James version; it's a really nice old-style translation. If you haven't got a Bible, your library will--probably more than one translation. |
