| Zoticus09-18-03, 02:51 AM | The game that i am currently playing in is set in Tethyr. The party consists of: 6th level human female Cleric of Sune (me) 6th level human female Bard (who happens to be the sister of the local lord) 6th level female kender Rogue 5th level female fire gensai Monk All the characters have red hair and the locals have dubbed us "The Firehaired Furies". BBEG in this campaign is a Erinea who has married the duke who the local lord owes fealty to, but our characters do not know this yet. Our biggest reoccuring problem is the weasel familiar from a kobold sorcerer that we killed earlier in the campaign. The kender, unbeknownst to the rest of us caught the lil bugger after we killed the kobold and tied it up in a sack. That night when we were back at the Bard's family estate, it chewed it's way out of the bag and began a vendetta against us. So far it has dyed two of us blue by dropping dye tablets into our bath water, and booby-trapped our equipment causing painful and often embarassing incidents to happen. The weasel has taken levels in rogue since racking up numerous victories over us. When we tried to track it down with hunting dogs, it used red pepper to throw off the dog's nose and temporarily blind the party. My character is at her wits end, the reign of terror of this weasel must be brought to an end! Any advice? |
| Mr. VanderMeer09-18-03, 06:16 AM | I love that weasel. Why don't you try making peace with it? Maybe it can join your party? Or you can promise it a new job as a familiar for a good wizard? I would be a shame to kill such a brave weasel! |
| Trydan09-18-03, 07:46 AM | I agree with Mr VanderMeer. It's be a shame to kill of the little creature. However... what about using some wards or something, and then setting a tempting bait. Perhaps poison could be used. Or even determining its alignment, and then using that in some way. Hihi... 'tis a lovely problem though. Do let us know how you get on with it! |
| Poukis09-18-03, 04:31 PM | He, he... It's very nice... Well, for us at least, who aren't members of your party and fell victims to the pranks... Since it's master was a kobold, it will most likely be evil... Now, I'm on vacations and I don't have my PhB with me, but the first thing that came to my mind was an alarm spell and sound burst or something to immobilize it... I don't remember if you have a wizard or a bard but you could try with a scroll and the rogue... But then again, it's really a shame to kill such a clever little critter!:bounce: |
| emudoug09-19-03, 12:09 AM | shiny things. weasels LOVE shiny things. |
| Zoticus09-19-03, 01:40 AM | Thanks for the responses so far. Think we are going to try to bait the lil' bugger out and cast command on him. I think he is too crafty, though and this tactic may not work. One more thing, our party just killed a gnoll sorcerer and my character suspects that the kender may have brought it's monkey familiar back to the estate as well. What happens if these critters form a league of extraordinary ex-familiars...how do we combat that? Just think of how nasty it could get. A weasel rogue, monkey monk...what else could pop up next? |
| JosephKell09-19-03, 02:01 AM | The Weasal is far too intellegent... it must be possessed! KILL IT! Actually this is so funny... beaten by a weasal... Are you SURE this was a familiar and not an Awakened Weasal cohort? Cohort once... cohort twice... |
| Trydan09-19-03, 02:46 AM | One more thing, our party just killed a gnoll sorcerer and my character suspects that the kender may have brought it's monkey familiar back to the estate as well. Ah! Right... now I see the problem, and the solution is reasonably straight forward. Kill that kender! |
| Mr. VanderMeer09-19-03, 04:45 AM | HAHAHAHA, Yes let them join up! Sometimes a kender can truly bring joy. Maybe the kender should be banned. He could then join the weasel and the monkey. Together they could start a new adventuring company. And keep on harrasing the other party! |
| JaeBeam09-19-03, 07:14 PM | This is not my idea, I'm quoting from another thread. Hypersmurf is the person with the following bit of cleverness: One trick I've seen pulled is to cast Nystul's Magic Aura on a bag of flour (the flour, not the bag), which was subsequently sprinkled about an area. The creature that sneaked through that area was later tracked by using Detect Magic to follow the trail of magic flour he left behind This seems like a good way to hunt the sucker down. |
| Zoticus09-22-03, 12:15 AM | I like the flour idea. Weasel beware!!! |
| Alrunic Silverfyre09-22-03, 01:26 AM | One word that cleans up all problems, NPC or otherwise. Fireball. Burn Weasel Burn. |
| Baron Phylos09-22-03, 10:13 PM | Sentient Weasels can die from laughing too much... well, at least in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" they do. ;) |
| Ryltar Swordsong09-22-03, 10:16 PM | Dude, that weasel rules! |
| knightserpent09-22-03, 11:16 PM | I hate weasels, My character was riding a dire weasel wile it fell off a cliff and killed them both. |
| Starfall09-22-03, 11:29 PM | LMAO This could be one of the funniest threads I've ever read!!! :heehee I can just imagine... the kender soon brings home a cockatoo that runs away and finds the other ex-familers... it turns out he was a sorcerous cockatoo, and soon devlops his powers! :pile: Either way... best of luck to you man. |
