His mother Feylin is an accomplished wizard, and his father Roan was a mighty warrior. Now his mother helps people in town with her magic, and provides training for a select few pupils; while Roan trains the town militia, and acts as warden for the surrounding area. Sevlas new from early on that he was different from everyone else. He could do some minor spells without any instruction from his mother, she said this marked him as a Sorcerer. While he liked to advance his innate magical abilities, Sevlas found himself drawn to the art of swordplay, and so after he managed to get his powers under control he studied swordplay under his fathers instructions. Sevlas remembered the stories of Vilya Sorrowleaf the blade singer; Vilya Sorrowleaf having left their village years ago in search of adventure, and some new fighting style he had heard of. He is said to have headed north across the moonsea to begin his adventures in the untamed wilderness of that region. Sevlas wants to learn the ancient art of the blade singer one of blending arcane spell casting, and sword fighting. With his sister starting her magical education, and his brother following in the footsteps of their father Sevlas has decided that the time has come for him to strike out on his own in pursuit of Vilya Sorrowleaf to become a blade singer. Sevlas set out on a warm summers day near the end of that season heading North. He left behind all of his friends and family taking only his sword, and little else, his parents gave him a gift before parting telling him that he was now an adult, and free to choose his own course, and hopefully threw his training he would be able to make it threw any danger he may come across. On the 3rd evening after leaving his home Sevlas was walking along when up ahead he heard sounds of battle. He made his way quickly to the seen staying well hidden in the brush to the sides of the road, when he came across a young man, fighting a ground of Gnolls. The man was slowly being worn down, and hadn’t managed to score any major hits against his opponents; who had him flanked and out numbered 4 to one. Sevlas paused for the briefest of moments to consider the best choice of action, should he help, or sneak on by, when the young man started singing, and cast a spell. Thinking this could be an opportunity to learn something of the Blade singers Sevlas made a magical shield appear before him, and an area of grease appear under the feet of 2 gnolls, and they both slipped and fell, then he drew his sword, and charged into battle hacking down one of the gnolls. Now facing only one opponent the man was able to score a mighty hit with his rapier, and took the other standing gnoll down. The other 2 gnolls managed to get out on the far side of the grease, and decided to flee and left their dead companions behind. Sevlas turned to the man and is confronted with a strange sight, the man who he had assumed was human was actually a Half-Elf, while Sevlas had herd of Elfs mixing with humans he had never seen it the humans who lived in his small village had always married other humans, and the elfs other elfs. The half-elf must have noticed his saviors staring for he quickly asked if he was the first halfbreed he’d met? This bringing Sevlas out of his thoughts replied as a matter of fact you are, but I hold no prejudices. It’s only that I’ve just left my home, and you are the first outsider I’ve come across. My name is Sevlaskarn Deimos; but please call me Sevlas. Well met friend. Well met Sevlas, my name is Fenet; I don’t know my sure name as I was found by a traveling bard, my parents bodies lying beside me, and my Mentor never finding out who they were, and so he named me after his lost son. He trained me in the ways of the bard, and as such I’ve left his teachings in search of my own path. Sevlas and Fenet became fast friends, and traveled much of the elven court together, slowly making their way north, but normally being side tracked by one thing or another, carrying messages from one town to another, saving a druid, and her grove from a band of goblinoids, and many a night spent enjoying the social events of different towns, and the many taverns they held. By the time they reached the rapidly expanding port of Elfdock, the duo had written their adventures into a song they titled “Travels with Song and Sword” Once they reached Elfdock Selvas had planned on leaving straight for Phlan a free city, being rebuilt after a war with dragons, and other monstrous humaniods, which would probably have probably attracted Vilya Sorrowleaf when he left all those years ago. But Sevlas found leaving his friend harder than he had thought, and the many attractions of Elfdocks kept him there for a couple months. During his time in Elfdock he and Fenet took in everything, from the women, to the food, and spent a good portion of their time getting in trouble with everyone, and the rest getting back out of it again. These series of adventures they turned into the song Sellswords. Not too long after the completion of Sellswords Fenet got involved with the daughter of the Thief guild’s master, and now with the guild after him Fenet decided to go see his former mentor in Dagger Dale, and Sevlas decided it was time to continue with his quest. |
