Story (pretty long):
Ethan was raised by his parents, his dad was half-dragon, and his mom was human. His family is poor. When Ethan was a kid, he always said to his parents that he wanted to be a knight, because he thought the ones at the castle town were cool. But the kingdom he lived in only let pure-blood humans be knights, because they were the most well diciplined, and it was tradition. When Ethan was 9, he and his parents went to the king and pleaded to let him be a knight, but the king said no. After they heard that, his parents said to him he couldn't be one, and he started crying, because it was his dream to be a knight. The king felt so bad, that he said, if they train him themselves, then when Ethan was 18, they can come back, and if he is a good enough at fighting, he will let him train to be a knight. Ethan noticed a guard glaring at him as they left the kings room. So his parents used all the money they had to buy him plate and scale mail armor, and a longsword. He trained with his dad in the woods they lived nearby every few days. After a few years he was a very good fighter. One day, when Ethan was 15, his dad let him go train by himself in the woods because he was too tired. After an hour or two of training, he came back home. When he opened the door, and saw is parents laying in the middle of the floor, dead.. Ethan stood in disbelief, tears dripped from his eyes. He noticed a note in his dad’s hand, “Ethan if you are reading this, then go to the river in the woods, go by the biggest rock there, and under it will be a cave, go through it and you’ll see a chest. Say, ‘Chest of Flares ’ and it will open. Inside, is the Garnet of Flares. When holding it, say ‘Dragon of Flares’. Use this power and track down the killer. I love you son, hope you grow up to be a knight.” Ethan did what the note said. When the chest opened, a small Garnet which seemed to be on fire, raised out on its own. He grabbed it and said “Dragon of Flares”. All of a sudden he felt a jolt of energy come out of the Garnet and run up his arms and into his heart. His body started tingling. Then it felt like his skin was hardening, he looked at it and it was turning into red scales. He looked at his hands, or what used to be hands, because now they were turning sharp like claws. He felt two spots in his upper back and one spot in his lower back tingling, and realized he was growing wings and a tail. His teeth and ears sharpened, and his throat felt hot. Then he started growing taller, about two and a half feet taller. Then everything stopped. The Garnet had given him more dragon blood, making him now a lot more dragon than human. He was stunned for a second, but then remembered, the killer. He flew (yes, flew) back to his house. He noticed footprints coming out his door, he followed them. Hours later he found a cave. He went inside only to have an arrow barely miss his face. He saw a dark figure wearing a helmet with a visor.
”You killed my parents!” Ethan yelled
“Yes I did” said the killer. “You’re next”
After a long battle, Ethan sliced the killers leg off, immobilizing him. Ethan snatched off his helmet to see he was the guard at the king’s castle 6 years ago.
“What?!? You?!? Why?!?” Ethan yelled.
The killer explained, “I went to kill you because the king was going to let you be a knight even though you were a half-dragon. That’s despicable! Your kind cannot be knights! When I went to kill you at your house, only your parents were home, so I killed them instead. Now it’s your turn!”
He sliced Ethan across his right eye, leaving a scar. Ethan threw his sword, stabbing the killer and pinning him to the wall like a bulletin board, killing him. Ethan walked outside thinking how he can turn back to normal. A voice that seemed to come from the sky said “Flare away”.
“Flare away?” Ethan said.
Then the energy seemed to come out of his heart, down his arms and into the Garnet of Flares.
All his dragon features slowly started going away. He was back to more human than dragon. “That Garnet has more powers than that, you will discover them your self, don't let it fall into the wrong hands,” the voice said. After a few months, he got paid money for going on adventures, and raised enough money for a house in the castle town. He made friends with Gold Knight and Seth the half-elf (My friends’ characters) They go on adventures together. He still hopes to become the kingdoms’s first half-dragon knight.

Give me any comments, questions, suggestions, etc., thanks! :D

10 times better than my first character. Keep putting this much work into it and anyone would be happy to play with you.

I like how you made the Half-Dragon powers turn on and off like that. It sort of makes him feel like a super-hero. ;)

I have a character sheet for him already. All I need is a miniture for him, and he'll be complete! Darn, I wish I had some clay and paint or something.

Yeah, most of my friends just draw a symbol instead, or just describe how they look like. Sometimes people pay me gold peices to draw thier character for them.

Does your DM established rules on how your alternate shape is working? I guess you will learn more power as you gain level; it's almost a class or savage progression... And does your DM established where your magic items are coming from, as well as your father's history?

Ok, beside the exotic draconic heritage, why does your character want to be a knight? He always wanted to be one, but why? Did he see them often, did they pass in the road before his house when going in crusade? And from what I can judge from your "human form" picture, I don't see why the king doesn't want you as a knight; do you have foreign features?

He wanted to be a knight because when his family went to visit the castle town, he alway saw knights on partrol, and fighting. He thought that was really awesome, so he wanted to be one. But the kingdom has a few centuries old rule that only humans can be knights because the are the most well disiplined, and it was a tradition. But the king decided they should try something new. But one gaurd didn't like it. Mabye I'll change the story a bit to explain this.

That part is clear. My question is about your character. In human form, how much does he looks like a dragon?

Hey Morka, I changed the story a bit. And about him looking like a dragon, he has barely any dragon blood, so he doesn't have much dragon features. Just slightly pointed ears and nose, and his teeth are sharper than a human's, but his mouth is closed in the pictures.

wow, super detailed for a first character. my first character was played during a campout with my boy scout troop way back when ( 2nd ED) that the older kids made for me, we (the younger kids) were like 2nd level, and the older kids were like 8th. i remember he was a cleric and he had two spells, bless and sanctuary. cant remember anything else about him... haha, now that im thinking about it, the funny thing was a friend of mine (whom i still play with) played a fighting cook, who wielded a golden ladel, and he had like a 3 str and could barely lift it... haha, good times. sorry, im ranting, just reminising the old days.
